I train mostly by myself just wondering I'm going to purchase one should I get it with extension stock or is it not necessary?
gotta agree here...i had one 12 yrs ago. safety is a BIG issue - with the stock you cocked it and then the trigger pull fired the launcher. so - once cocked its a loaded gun that is ready and deadly - and a bumper fired from 10 feet (or 50) could easily kill a man or at least hurt really really bad..I've been hand launching hundreds of bumpers a year for decades and haven't found a stock necessary. Would, in fact, be a nuisance, as it wouldn't fit in the handy claymore bag I carry my launcher, bumpers and blanks in.
words of wisdom there! They are very very hard on the ears. Always wear hearing protection.
Learned the hard way.

i couldn't find it in dogs Afield.......any helpIf you have any remote transmitters, you can also purchase a ground launcher unit to put your retriever trainer in. I have 2 of these and will probably pick up a few more. They are relatively inexpensive, compared to other remote launchers; are light weight and fire a dummy quite a ways. I think Dogs Afield has them.

They don't go as far. I have a bird shaped one with a fixed head that goes further then the dokken, but neither go as far as the standard dummy. Thanks for the input also thinking of getting the Dokken Dead Fowl Launcher Dummy do they sill go as far as standard dummies?
They're so loud that I actually sit the dog and walk a bunch of feet away - left or right - and launch from there.words of wisdom there!
add to that a couple hundred rock concerts and a stepfather shooting a duck from behind me and i got the 40+ yrs of tenninitus as well.....

Would like to think that common sense based SOP, but occasionally see folks on these boards faulting the devise for being particularly hard on a heeling Pup's hearing. There so loud that I actually sit the dog and walk a bunch of feet away - left or right - and launch from there.
