I remember competing against Brian and Cane ages ago. What a shock! He was much too young to die.

Brian was as good a friend as a person could have. We played small college basketball together in the mid 80's and Brian became the all time collegiate scoring leader for all colleges in Nebraska. He still held that scoring record until this year when it was finally surpassed by Doug McDermott of Creighton. Brian and I enjoyed outdoor activities together, especially fishing, after our college days. In the Mid 1990's, I got my first field trial dog and Brian became interested as well. Brian would drive from Omaha to Lincoln 2 or three days a week to help me train my dog Gator before he even had a dog. That was the type of person he was. He would do anything to help a friend. About a year later, he got his first dog, Top Gun Hurricane (Cane), who went on to become FC/AFC and went 8 series at the 2002 National Amateur. Though we knew almost nothing about dogs, we both enjoyed more success with those two dogs than anybody could have hoped for and certainly far more than our skill as dog trainers warranted. I guess what we lacked in knowledge was more than made up for by two amazing dogs.
Though he moved to Missouri just as my dog started competing in All Age Stakes, those early days traveling to field trials to run derbies with Brian, Gator and Cane remain to this day some of my fondest memories. Neither time nor distance or even death can diminish the gratitude I have for Brian's friendship and the great times we had together. RIP my friend. Please pet Cane and Gator for me and tell them what amazing dogs they are!

Brian was truly great to me, and was my roommate for virtually all of the time I was at K2. I remember him offering to run me to the airport when he barely knew me yet. I thanked and told him I wouldn't expect that from him. His reply "You're my friend, it's no problem." That was the guy he was.

I didn't know him long and by and large he kept to a small circle of friends socially, but he was always good to me.

RIP Brian.

Sorry for your loss, sounds like he was a good man.

Praying for the loss of all those affected... Sounded like a fine man that went home to early....

God Bless,

Richard
