Prayers for the family and friends!:-(

Steve was one of the most generous people in our sport. He worked tirelessly on his beautiful property to prepare for field trials and hunt tests. He allowed training groups to come in regularily and never had a negative comment about anything or anyone!

Jovial evenings spent with Steve and Patsy, sitting at their kitchen island, listening to their family's Civil War history will always be remembered with awe and astonishment as the master story teller re-counted his childhood on the family farm.

Frank and I will miss his annual winter training visits to our Florida farm, as we looked forward to the wisdom and experience Steve shared with us, the inexperienced. We missed this year's visit, as Steve remained home to assist his lovely wife and high school sweetheart, Patsy, who'd just undergone un-planned surgery.

Steve's love and dedication to the talents of Chocolate Labradors has been admired and applauded for years. Brink's Buster Brown has his Open and Amateur Wins as well as having earned 26 Derby points and winning a Derby and Qualifying the same weekend! As the consummate Amateur, Steve did his own training along with his friends. When in need, he consulted his Professional friend, Alan Pleasant.

We will greatly miss our friend, Steve!

Prays to his family and I hope he was having a good trial at Rocky Point.

Just met Steve a year ago, was up visiting my son and family in NC and asked around about where to train while in the neighborhood. Of course Steve's name came up. Called him and he welcomed me like we'd been friends for years. Joined his group a few times and was looking forward to seeing him this spring...

A true southern gentleman

A tremendous loss to the community! Godspeed Steve, Rest in Peace. Prayers to friends and family for peace

Ran the mid atlantic and blue ridge trials at his place last weekend and he invited me to come train with him this coming week. I will always remember he was in the holding blind while I ran the land and after he ran and came by the truck he pointed at me and said "boy that was some kinda good and I had to follow that. We will all miss him. RIP Mr Steve

Darn, I'm sad to here that. Steve was a good friend and great gentlemen in our sport.

Steve was a true gentleman. The sport and the world will miss him.

I am indeed fortunate to have known Steve. A true gentleman, sportsman and capable competitor, and always with a smile. His generosity and support of our sport and folks coming into the game will leave a lasting legacy. Rest in peace Steve. We miss you.

I met Steve a couple of years ago at a Derby. After speaking with him for a very short while my thoughts were that he was a true gentleman! Over the last couple of years whenever I saw him he always had kind word of encouragement. RIP Steve

Oh no, this is so sad, the Brown dawg mafia has lost another great brother.

Deepest sympathy and prayers for his family.

My heart truly breaks for Mrs. Patsy, the rest of Steve's family, and his training partners and many friends. As others have said, Steve was a true Southern Gentleman and as gracious and generous as they come. What a loss.
