My YLM Rusty is going for his Therapy Dogs International test today!

I'm excited, and terrified. Rusty just turned a year old July 2nd so it’s going to be a bit tough keeping him occupied from 4:00pm-8:00pm but we are going to give it a go anyway. If he doesn't pass we can always try again later. (But I really hope he does good)

At Cabela's we decided to give the TDI thing a try within work and see if we could get a few employees to give it a go, we have had pretty good interest in it!

Not sure what all we are going to do once we take the test. Anyone else have a therapy dog? What do y'all enjoy doing?
We can go anywhere after we pass the testing. Hospitals, Nursing homes, Schools, and so forth.

Rusty at one year old, he is (still) super handsome and goes a whoppin 63lbs! :D
Next month (or possibly the end of this month or the following month?) Rusty is going away for a month, or two, or three... I just have to decide where he is going I guess.
I hate to send him away but I just don't know enough to get him any further, so off to a Pro he goes! :(

Congrats! That's very special! Good Boy Rusty!

P.S. Hopefully, the disabled, sick, etc person won't have a duck or duck call..... 'cause that's when the "Crazies" come out! :D

Congratulations, Rusty and Marissa! It is so cool that he can go to work with you now! Who knew that an NAFC would be used to breed therapy dogs...lol! Got to love those dogs with an on and off switch!

Kona and I are a registered Therapy Dog Team with TDI. Currently we take part in the Pet Friend Program at UPMC Children's Hospital here in Pittsburgh. Therapy work will probably be the most rewarding job he and I do. The smiles he brings are priceless. We also are going to be starting therapy visits at Ronald McDonald House and the local libraries for TTail Waggin Tutors. Good luck on the test and enjoy!!!

Congrats' 2 of my labs are TDI cert. We go to a children's hospital, Ronald Mc Donald house, and a reading program at the library. I had to teach mine that tennis balls on the bottom of walkers are not their toys!

I hope Rusty's evaluation went well. All my previous dogs were TDI but I switched many years ago to Delta, so we could participate in animal assisted therapy (rehab programs) and be dual reg. with TDInc which is more active in my community. We visit nursing homes, rehab centers, Hospice facilities and Autistic children on a regular basis. The visits are very rewarding!
