A few days ago, my wife had her dog (with ecollar) out in the woods and he got skunked

We did the tomato juice, vinegar, soda etc thing and doggie smells fine

We went through the same system with the ecollar, but it still stinks really bad

Anybody got a method of getting stink out of the ecollar ?

De-Skunk recipe
1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide [brown bottle stuff at any drug store], 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 tsp dish soap. Mix and wipe--skunk smell vanishes! Then thoroughly rinse your dog.

Supposd to work miracles!
We used that. It worked well on doggie (along with "Skunk Off").
Doggie smells fine.
We used all the same stuff on the collar and it still stinks really nasty bad.

I did the peroxide soak and tomato juice soak to no avail. I bought a new collar for $11 from Tri-tronics.

Throw the strap out. The PVC has trapped the oils and will stink for all eternity. Your best bet is to order another collar strap. The polycarbonate housing for the collar SHOULD be impervious to the skunk musk. What is there will go away over time.

I don't know if this works for skunk BUT it works for nasty coolers (dead shrimp/fish left in coolers)...soak in alittle water and alot of Downey fabric softener...

Let us know if it works for skunk...lol

Not so quick on the throw away. I had a similar problem a number of years ago. I buried the ecollar strap in some kitty litter and it took the smell away. I don't recall how long I kept it buried but I think a week.

I've had success in some cases by washing with Fels-naptha soap then tomato juice and repeated this cycle several times. Just be sure to rinse off the soap well with clean water before putting collar on dog as it can be irritating to skin if kept on for prolonged period of time.
