That is a good question that I will have to pass on answering based on experience for now. My first E-Collar arrived via FedEx last Friday, so I have yet to use it other then letting Peyton walk around wearing it on her neck. I will start the "stimulation" training this next weekend.

That being said, I think the use of the collar as a training tool is in the hands of the person doing the training. If you use it as an extension of a leash/lead, with a clear understanding of what you want the dog to do you and the dog will be happy. If you use it to inflict punishment when they are not listening without showing them what you want, then it is your fault. I have researched and talked with numerous people who have used an e-collar and almost all of them say their dogs get excited when it is getting put on, because they know it is time to have fun.

I will hopefully be able to speak first hand on this matter on a week or so.

I can tell you this, I have watched criminals who have been taser conditioned and after a first hand experience with one, they give up as soon as they see one pointed at them... : )
