Time to replace the tires on my 2008 Chevrolet 1500...I want something with a little meat to them but nothing over the top...Need something with a good life on it since truck gets a lot of miles tacking on it between the dogs and hunting...Any suggestions?

for the highway its hard to beat Michelin LTX's...I also like the Cooper ST tires on a Silverado 2500 great on the highway, but were terrible in the mud in Colorado,

I had Toyo Open Country ATs on a Ford F250. Most of mileage was towing a six hole trailer with ATV. Got about 18k miles out of them and should have replaced them at about 16k. Also it took about a half a rim of weights to balance the tires. I would not recommend them.

Bought Michelin LTX A/T2s to replace and so far so good. A tiny weight on each rim to balance. About 12k miles and still have tons of tread life remaining.

I have always had good luck with Nitto Terra Grappler all terrains. Had 70,000 miles on my last set an a GMC 1500. Waiting for the factory tires to wear out on my new truck and a set will be going on this truck also.

I'd recommend the nittos or the hankook dynapro at's. Have the hankooks now and have over 10000 on them and they still look new. They're pro rated for 50000 miles. Plus they're one of the better priced tire

I just replaced the tires on my 2008 Chevy 1500 Silverado. I went with 285's, BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's. I've tried lots of tires for trucks over the years and keep coming back to these. Only complaint I have ever heard about them is the price. Excellent off road, and I also put on thousands of miles towing a tournament bass boat. Great all around tire.

It may be just my bad luck but I kick my self every day for getting a set on my 2500hd duramax. I do tow a trialer almost every other day so this may have sped up the wear but I have 20k on them and are due for a new set so beware.

Having great luck with my Cooper Zeon LTZ tires 20k miles on them and they look brand new. I got them after reading reviews on tirerack.com that they were better and cheaper than the Nitto Terra Grapplers. 20" AT tires are insanely expensive.

They have gotten me out of every dumb situation I have gotten my self into.

Bridgestone Deuller Revo's. Quiet for the lug, great milage, and will go thru anything. I think I got 48k out of a set.

I have the Michelin LTX M+S 2 on my truck and I love them. I know several people who have the AT 2's and I hear nothing but good reports on them.

I run Michelins on my Duramax, and nothing will ever go on it besides them. That truck don't go in the mud, so the LTX is all I need. On my Avalanche I have Wrangler ATS. They came on the truck. They are just OK. I have had many sets of them in the past (I think 5 or 6) and they are all the same, wear down to half tread real quick and then stay put. They are very loud if not rotated every 5k. When these are done I will try the Michelin AT's.

BF A/T's were an OK tire for me. They wear ok and ride fine. A bit of noise, but with a cross tire pattern, you may feel some sway when towing.

Just put BFG Mud Terrains on my F-350 in the 10ply 255-16. They are much quieter than my Cooper ST's which were much less aggressive. I don't think they'll wear as well. I got 60K out of my Coopers. I expect around 35K-40K on a BFG mud.

I had Goodyear MT-R's before. They were the most expensive and worst tire out of all. Toyo AT that were new on it when I bought it. They were ok. 45K tire.

My previous rig, a 1998 F-150 got 65K out of a set of Cooper ST 235-16 10 ply tire. It was a great combo for that truck. Great traction and mileage. A little noisy but, worth the traction and mileage.
