I really like the looks of the Farmer drill. I’ve done something similar in the past where you plant several white bumpers across the short grass field in a line, perpendicular to the starting point. Essentially, you do not care which blind is the finish, only going and success. This appears to be a slight variation of that and it’s appealing. Thank you for the info.

So, this will prolly open a can a worms,, but what the hell!!

Lardy pattern blinds, then blinds with diversions. Blinds are idetified before they are run. The trainers eventually talk that the big hurdle is to get the dog to understand that when sent, there is a bumper out there to retrieve, without identifing the destination first..

Its just my opinion, but I see no reason why after pattern blinds,,and for preperation to run Cold blinds, you couldnt insert this technique..

Starting Cold Blinds by Danny Farmer

If you read it carfully ,he talks about teaching the dog to handle !,,accept whistles, and take casts.. also, it gives the dog confidence, that when sent without identifying a destination,, there is a bumper or bird out there in that general direction to retrieve.. it ecourages him to ethusiastically dive into the unknown.. a true COLD blind..

read it carefully a few times..
