Transparent Judging Sheets

I will be judging in a few weeks and am looking at switching judging sheets. I have seen other judges who drew a diagram on one master sheet and then overlaid some sort of plastic transparency on top of the master and then drew on the transparency. This saves me the hassle of having to re-draw my diagram for each dog.

Who would I contact to order such sheets?

Thanks in advance

Ted

I use a master diagram and draw it in pencil then when I get it right, I trace over it with a permanent marking pen (fine point). This shows up easily underneath regular paper, such as the copy paper I buy in cartons for my business from Staples or Office Depot.

You can also use All Weather Paper with this master diagram:

I have a grid in Word which I print on the paper, one for Derby and another for stakes that have both marks and blinds. Each page has a marked space in the upper right corner to write in the dog's number.

Voila. No transparent overlay needed.

Ted,

You can get 8-1/2 x 11 overhead transparancy film at most office supply stores. Just take a master sheet of the judging sheet you like best and copy it onto the transparencies. If you are looking at judging in the rain, make sure the copier you use uses fused toner rather than inkjet toner. If you use 1/2 sheet format - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 you will need to copy two per page and then cut in half. Most copy shops will do this for you for minimal charge as well as drilling the pages for holes to fit your binder. i.e. from Staples http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_Transparency-Film_97339_Business_Supplies_10051_SEARCH

Also make sure you have a good set of markers to use on the film as not all pens/pencils will work.

Ted, email Lee Houser. He has a system using mylar paper, a template for Derby and a template for AA & Q. It's a good system and will do what you asked for plus alot more. He has numbers listed on the template to keep track of callbacks. You draw out the test and then put the template under the numbered sheet. You can also place two sheets on top of the template and compare your drawings of those two sheets/dogs. It's very efficient. You can draw on the paper while it's under the fawcet so it works good in rainy weather. Lee has a few tricks to make the system work for ya. HPW

You can get 25% rag Vellum paper at any major office supply store. You may have to have the store punch holes for a binder or borrow the three-hole punch at your office. The vellum paper is about as water repellent as the “waterproof” judges sheets. For the master diagram, I have used fairly stiff poster paper cut to size. Rather than punch holes in the master page, I cut slots where the holes should be so the master page can be moved easily yet fixed in place.

The down side is that you cannot use both sides of the paper.

Ted,
I use the system you described, and found the vellum paper on e-bay to be less expensive than in the office supply stores. Do a search for vellum paper and you will find plenty of options.
Once you get used to the system, there is no going back. One detailed drawing, and you are finished.
Good luck!
