So maybe the turtle saga continues.
Andrew, two of our dogs and I were heading down to the lake to take a dip after trying to round up some evaporating chukars.
One of my dogs seemed to enter the water calmly and all of a sudden jumped straight up and out, limping.
We watched her for a second and then Andrew saw where something had torn her on the inside of her front leg. She has a strip of skin hanging off...
The strange thing is that this is our "waterdog beach". It's where we and the dogs go in and out of the water ALL THE TIME. The dogs go in and out at warp speeds and dive in and run in and everything... They were just swimming at lunch today.
We didn't want to get into the water to investigate.
Maybe tomorrow.
I can't imagine what would have caused a strip of skin to be hanging. It's maybe 1/2 inch wide by a couple of inches long. I guess we'll clean it, staple it and throw her on some antibiotics.
I don't know what a turtle bite would do -- I assume it would be a mean puncture?? So maybe she got caught on a splintered piece of wood or something? It's just always so clean down there, even under water...
???
Can you think of anything else that would cause this type of wound??
