So a couple of weeks ago I had posted a thread on How does a trainer evoke the desire to retrieve...and I thank all of you for your help...

I think a combiniation of voice inflection and keeping things fun have really turned my dog around....However, here's the catch...

When I keep it fun and evoke some verbage for motivation.... the dog get's really excited and bolts like the wind... I'm mean I can't throw the bumper far enough or fast enough that this dog just bolts with great desire and enthusiasm... just what I want right!!!...

But when I command the dog to sit, mark and release her by her name the speed nor the intense desire is there to get that same bumper...The dog will got and get the bumper, but at a level of say a 6 and not like the above 11

My question is ... Is this a delicate balance that I must play with the dog over time to gain her trust?

How does one increase the desire in the latter example?

Any help would greatly be appreciated
