I talked to the Gresham Animal Hospital which does a lot of greyhounds and is close to ICSB in Portland. He told me they do it when the progesterone reaches 15. I don't know if I understood it right but that's what he said. I'd never heard that before.

My repro checks on the 3rd day after ovulation and they also like to see 15 and up. Sometimes they plateau so they even like to see that they reach 12 for a natural breeding, so even if you reach 5 and it is 2 days later, sometimes it takes longer to be optimum. I haven't had smears checked forever, although sometimes they will check the smear and do a progesterone before doing a frozen.
