So me and my brother n law got in a debate about the use of a dog stand/blind and having the dog in the blind with us or on his own in his blind. As far as conditions go I want to be very clear most of our blinds on our lease aren't dog friendly and don't have dog doors so the dogs can see the birds in flight but not where they go down. So majority as in 90%+ of retrieves where blind retrieves. So I am 100% about putting my dog on a stand this year a few feet away to the side of our blind to give him the ability to actually mark more and see birds go down. So my question is what is your opinion on having a dog on a stand or in the blind with you? Of course you want your dog to be accustomed to the place command and in hunting conditions be able to have confidence he won't be breaking every gun shot. I think this is a no brainier but hey that's why I'm asking maybe in overlooking something.
