Hi there,

I'm a freelance writer looking for stories about Labrador Retrievers who have overcome obstacles. Perhaps your Lab is disabled, was in an accident, or was rescued from a bad situation. Perhaps your Lab had to go undergo an expensive surgery, and you did something unusual to afford it. Perhaps your Lab now does amazing things despite a past problem!

If you are interested in sharing your story, please e-mail me at petcaremere@gmail.com. I'll be happy to let you know the publisher via e-mail.

Thanks so much!

How about a UK labrador retriever that was born blind and trained to be a gundog in the field?

I liked the FC that had no hip joint; just cartilage to hold him together; famous dog don't remember which thread-dog that was. Also liked DC banchory bolo story's. These dogs can really overcome a lot of things

If you can find the story of NFC AFC McGuffy and his owner TJ Lindbloom, its as good as it gets

Can you post it or a synopsis? I'm always up for a Seabiscuit story!

BonMallari: What an amazing story! Thanks for sharing. I'd like to find an untold/present day story that I can write for the first time, if possible!

polmaise: Sounds like you have an amazing dog, but unfortunately I'm looking for US stories at this time. I will keep you in mind for other assignments, though.

Hunt'EmUp: If you or anyone else remembers those threads or users, please let me know!

Thanks everyone!

Petcaremere ; my brother's dog FC AFC Sourdough's Quickstart got injured after completing the ninth series of the National Amateur in Jackson Hole Wyoming in June '75, went thru surgery and rehab for almost a year and a half ran a trial in March '77 and got a 3rd in the Amateur, and then ran 3 trials in August with back to back wins in Utah and Idaho, was subsequently retired because my brother started medical school that fall...if you want a more detailed version, let me know

just read you wanted present day......

Find Dex's story. Amazing dog AND amazing owners who refused to put him down. SERIOUSLY - DEX's STORY IS AWESOME!
...

This is Snapper's story, but her affliction is a bit complicated.
Her book has raised over $17,000 to help people with disabilities.

Snapper is also a fundraiser and the Spokesdog for http://www.heavendropt.org an organization that employs the disabled to recycle retired military parachutes into consumer products. Proceeds go back to Veterans groups.

Dex does have his own Facebook page. You can call me at 318-305-4430 or email me at LindsaysLabs@yahoo.com to talk more about Dex. We are so proud of how far he has come. Dex is a bilateral amputee that has run hunt test and hunts with me during the winter. He lives for me and I live for him is how my wife states it.

Thanks Curtiss

There's a gentlemen in Oklahoma City that has a blind golden retriever that he trained to hunt ducks with him and goes to schools and events. Uses the golden retriever as an example of how to over come obstacles and disabilities. The local News Channel 4 did a story on him, maybe search their archive for information or names.
