What do you think will be the Master Nationals over/under for:

Dogs Qualified (867 with 45 events to go): my guess 1250
Dogs that will Attend: my guess 975
Dogs That will Pass: 400
New MNH: 150

I think it's getting out of control !!!! and has out smarted itself. I know I will get a lot of grief with this but here's my take. Average MH is 5-6 YO, take 4 years to get 3 MN passes to get MNH title, now 9-10 YO, too old to breed or collect. DUH
The natural progression should be 1) MH title, 2) QAA title, 3) go to FT and compete with the big boys.
Multiple Master passes is a lot of the same and I feel the HT Pro is just hanging onto his client base and crowding the field to a point where a SH can't get in to a Master test or once in is competing with a group of high level experienced titled dogs. Don't give me "they are all competing against the same test". Been there, rarely do you ever see more than a 50% pass rate and usually 30% or less.
Sadly it's all about money, clubs included.
That's my 2 cents worth.

Where does this list come from? I have found three dogs on the list that have NOT "officially" qualified.

Spag-remember several clubs did not use EE so those tests won't show up as passes if that's how you're trying to confirm.

Yes.... Terry Marshall. What does it all mean? I agree with you. Master National should be for the amateur training a self-owned, self-trained hunting companion. Enough said.
What you mean is the wealthy/self employed or retired amateur right? I am 40, 2 small kids and work full time with 3 weeks vacation. Pretty standard. I did the basics and the vast majority of the training with my dog and have handled him in 90% of the events he has attended. He has a HRCH, MH, MNH, QA2 and has some Amateur Jams. he is 100% owned by me. I skipped last year but the year before he went to the Kansas MN with a great pro. cost me around 1000.00. With the 2 days travel back and forth i would have to take 2 weeks off at least and would have cost me 2500.00 at least. Explain to me how I would be able to do that?

It seems like when people say that they mean that they want to keep it for their small little club of people. Then it becomes who you are and not what your dog can do. We already have FT for that (FT success is based on the dog but to really compete you have to have so many resources the average guy cannot compete).

well my dog is amatuer trained and qualified for national by amateur but there is no way i can take 10 + days vacation.
I will be sending her with a pro because SHE has worked hard and deserves a shot

My MNH is QA2 and I have run several Amateurs and finished a few. The issue is that with the grounds I have and $ I cannot compete. I also work full time and have 2 kids so I can only train a few times a week and cannot travel like I would need to to train. I pull up with my one dog beside 15 or so chasse mounts with 3-4 dogs each that spend large amounts of time with the top FT pros. Ever so often a great dog will come along that can compete but for the most part guys like me are just cannon fodder. I enjoy it a few times a year going and taking my shot but why would you suggest that that should be the only avenue I should have. MN provides a great middle ground for people like me which by the way is the majority of the dog handlers out there and are the future of the sport.

Why not make the standard higher? Create limited Master Stakes that are harder and use those to qualify for MN. So HT would have Limited Master, Master, Senior, and Junior. After you get your Master you have to pass 4 Limited and you can go. There stretch out distances, add quads, raise the blind standards.....ect... This would cut down the number at the local level and get the MN guys out of the way of the guy just shooting for master and the Clubs would take in about the same $.
