I have ordered several popper loads from 2 diffrent suppliers, and they have all been the Fiocchi brand of hulls, to save money, and pass the time I knock out the spent 209 primers, and reload all mine.
Over the last couple of years I have picked up spent popper loads at some of the hunt test, and have found that the green hull that's stamped (Fiocchi Tundra) on the hulls last the longest, they have a higher brass than most of the ones I have, and I can get several reloads from these hulls before they are beat up to the point they won't cycle.

I know some will say they are cheap enough to just buy, but an hours worth of time I can reload several hundred rounds, and are easy enough to do on a rainy day.

Are any of you familiar with where some of the hunt test clubs are purchasing these Fiocchi Tundra poppers ? I have looked online, and have not been able to locate them, and all the ones I have ordered so far are just standard green Fiocchi hulls with nothing stamped on the hull.

For safety, I would only shoot them in a break action shotgun (single shot or double barrel) and always look down the chamber after firing a shot with any reload.

These are the hulls I am speaking of, I have seen these used at hunt test, just trying to find a supplier that they get them from, all the ones I have ordered in the past are not the Tundra Hulls.

WOW i am surprised that a company could produce a Blank with that "Look" high brass and all.
I have two cases of Kents that fire about every second or third one loaded in my winger mates. Is it the winger mates or the Kents?

No Sir the ones I have picked up was shot and spent popper loads ! I loaded them into the gun myself when running our dogs, They have a rolled over crimp and are sold as popper loads, not sure where they come from, but know I have used them at Music City, and I believe at West Tennessee hunt test as well.

These where HRC hunts, and no live flyers where shot.

Only legit popper loads I am aware of that could be purchased nationwide that used once fired hulls came from Unique Enterprises and to my knowledge Charlie never used tundra hulls. His preferred hulls were Rio and just before he past away was using new primed Rio hulls. and going away from once fired.
My guess is a local making them for the club or clubs.

Boy I miss that guy.

I've seen and used Fiocchi primer-only poppers at HRC tests in several different hulls. Most have been dark brown or clear and roll crimped. Not sure if true or not, but was told by a Fiocchi dealer that for the primer-only poppers Fiocchi tended to load them into whatever hulls they happened to have a surplus of at the time they loaded them. Could explain the Tundra high brass hull. Might check around with several Fiocchi dealers that carry the primer poppers, or contact Music City HRC and West Tennessee HRC clubs to see where they got them. Good luck.

I make primer poppers for HRC training with AA cases with a primer only and cave the crimp in. For FT type poppers I make a load with grits with an over the shot wad in once fire AA cases. (make sure you can maintain crimp pressure because if crimp pressure is lost you can get a squib load that may leave the wad in the barrel). Be safe!

Fiocchi frequently makes poppers out of shells they will be discontinuing.
