Hey all,

Still very new to all of this and really enjoy reading the posts about the dogs I've never seen but read about.

I have a BLF that is out of a Candlewood Meet Joe Black son x a line bred Hiwood Piper son.

Just wondering what those two were like . Thank you

What would you like to know about Piper ?...How far back does Piper show up in your dog's line, He has been gone for a long time and his line has pretty much disappeared, even Jag( FC AFC Hiwood Jaguar) was six generations back from Piper

How many people still living do you think would have seen or have personal knowledge of a dog born in 1970?

Here is a copy of her pedigree. He's back there quite a ways:) what was he like? What are this lines best attributes? Her pedigree isn't the strongest (learning curve).

What are some of your best memories of things you saw him do whether in training or competition?

Rich
the best I can tell you is the grand sire 4 generations back FC AFC Hiwood Clincher was named for my brother Clint..but he was nothing like Piper.( and yes I saw Piper up close and watched him win a couple of trials on the west coast).Mr McFall once told me that Clint might have been his best dog, but even I had to take that with a bit of a smile..I am not familiar with the dogs after Clint because they were not owned by Mr McFall, even he told me that Clint was closer to Pacer than he was to Piper..We had a male sired by Pacer, named Misty Morning Storm and he was a really nice dog that had an Open 2nd in very limited trialing...

Ed I would think there would be quite a few still alive. By the time he would've been in his prime you're looking at 1975'is. I was hoping to get info on what traits he passed on and what his offspring were like. But if you thought my post was that dumb just scroll on next time.

Ed, even I saw Piper win a double header in Billings, MT and I am not THAT old. wink wink

If you think it's a stupid question and you try to give a stupid (or condescending) answer, sometimes you end up looking stupid....wink wink.

Stupid is as stupid does, just sayin ...............;-)

No such thing as a stupid question, it's fun to reminisce about these good old dogs from the past. I just don't believe many traits will be noticeable past a two or three generations.
Thank you John. I would've loved to see some of those dogs and trainers. I'd throw birds anytime lol.

I'm still in the process of learning what traits work for me (or hopefully will :) I try to utilize this site and others as much as possible, but nothing beats someone sharing their experiences and memories.

Rich,

You never know what you might learn when you ask a question on RTF. In fact, you might find the fellow who whelped, raised, and trained the sire of your girl for the first five years of his life. And you might also find the guy who whelped, raised, and trained his mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-grandfather!

I sent you a PM with my contact information in case you'd like some of that history.

Swack

P.S. My avatar is P.D., the sire of your pup!

See, no such thing as a stupid question, unless you're the mainstream media, then it's questionable.

I can remember Piper doing a Water Blind in the NWRC Open at Doc Parker's farm & pond. All other dogs were swimming & Piper was
moseying along with his wagging tail held high like he was on a stroll. I believe that the year he beat up the WC circuit. Most of Roy's
dogs & I saw many of them were on the big lab side while exhibiting good conformation for that size.
