Just checked my bill for adult shots. I'm confused. Thought Yukon should one get a 3 year rabies which he did and a 3 year combo. Instead I have listed a one year DA2PP?

Call them Carolyn. There is no Lepto in there. Unless your vet gave him the two dose series last year, he did not get them from me.

My vet did not recommend the Leto vaccine when my pup had his 6 Month shots. Is this normal? Should I expect to be able to vaccinate for it this year when he gets his annual shots again? They claimed they were having reactions to the vaccine that's why they did not recommend him getting it.

Ask your vet to get the single Lepto vaccines instead of the 9 way combo or go to a vet that will order it. Then give them separately. I vaccinate all the pups I keep but I don't do it until after 4 months. You have to give 2 the first time about 4 weeks apart.

He goes a week from Friday to get lepto. I have a stream although not in the dog fence on the property. My main vet was on vacation so I took the next best one according to ob club friends at the practice. Very nice.
I really wasn't on my game because he did not get bordetella. He will get that too! It always just been a given to give my dogs those! Oh well still in the puppy stuff mode I guess! At least no early neuter lecture

Our 6 month old got lepto but a week later separate from the 6 month shots.

We normally vaccinate for Lepto separately from the other vaccines, every year. In speaking with my Canadian veterinarian last fall, they did not recommend, due to the possibility of vaccine reaction and that it wouldn't necessarily protect against the strain they actually would come in contact with. Plus, it is apparently treatable if caught early.

So, I did not do the shots when they came due. Two things made me change my mind. When we crossed into Idaho last month, the border guard actually wanted to see a complete vaccination record as well as the regular rabies certificates on all our dogs. She immediately noticed that they had not had their latest Lepto vaccine. Her comment was, if we were crossing in Eastern Canada to the US right now, we could potentially be turned back, as the risk of outbreak is now very high there.

The second thing was reading an article that the risk of Lepto is also very high in California now, due to all the rain and stagnant water.

So, into Bakersfield we headed, getting all the dog's shots current. The vets there concurred that there is presently a high risk. We saw no vaccine reaction this time (had one before).

I think the Canadian vets did not want to vaccinate, due to the fact that it is an unusual shot for them to give. They would have had to order a flat of many injections, just to do our 4 dogs. Not much demand in their clinic otherwise.

In conclusion, I will maintain the annual vaccinations with a veterinarian that we work with in Montana.

They are wrong because the trouble is they may not act sick until it's too late and they are in kidney failure.
Curious, I order 25 vaccinations in a box. Why would they have to order 64? I have gotten long outdates so they are enough for 2 years.

Going on what the Canadian vet told me. I don't think they appreciated the risk, given that it is not prevalent in Alberta.

For this, I will deal with US veterinarians.

I do Lepto and am considering Lyme. Up north Lyme seems to be a must. However, my vet said In the South East (East Tn) she said it wasn't needed. Not sure I agree, found two deer ticks on me a couple fo days ago. Going to Maine for a couple weeks in July to visit family and my dog will have Lyme before I leave. I am thinking of doing it much sooner actually.
