Can't wait. Sounds divine!!! You gonna stop by Russ? I'll be there all week.

I have been told by folks east of the Rockies that it is nice looking grounds that are pretty rough and tough. Maybe to those from out west, these are "typical" or even "gentle"!

One thing I am really excited about is the judges. Thank you for giving up so much time (and even the chance to compete with your own dogs).

Good luck to all entered.

John
Welcome to Caly-For -Nee- Ya. Absolutely beautiful country there and not that tough compared to a lot of the stuff we hunt on out here.

Angie,

Say hello to Florence who has been there since Tuesday. The National is 450 miles away and Florence left me with five dogs and a job to support her nomadic quests. I would have really like to have met you.

I hope anyone that attends introduces themselves to Florence who will be somewhere near the line most of the week.

I'll do it....;-)

National Weather Forcast may say one thing. My friend looked out the window of the motel and at her thermostat, said 46 and she said it was rainy and cold.
Umm? I live right across from Mead Ranch. about 1 mile away. It didn't rain here at all today. Current temp is about 50 deg. The mornings are foggy here this time of the year, the fog in the hills gets very damp and you might think it is raining.....but it is not.

I train on the grounds sometimes with Jeff on the weekends. I have not had either of my two dogs or seen any of Jeff's or his clients dogs have problems. other than normal things.

The water was/is skinny. But like someone mentioned it is coming up.

Those pics of the Ranch were most likely taken in the Mid to late winter. Our landscape gets the greenest and prettiest during winter, when it rains and that is the only time it rains.

I will be helping set up tomorrow. If I can remember to bring my camera, I will take some pics and post them.

I have trained and run trials on the Mead Ranch at various times over quite a few years. None of my dogs has ever complained of sore feet. It has been an exceedingly dry year and the reservoir off Uvas road is down to nothing. I don't ever remember seeing it like that. Low, yes. Almost empty, no.

This is the West and November is not normally a time of lush grasses and lots of water even under non-drought conditions.

Steve will go out of his way to make sure everything is top notch---including pumping in a lot of water to fill the ponds.

I heard at a dinner last night (composed of various committee chairs, etc.) that the judges are having no problem setting up tests.

It did not rain today. I was out in shirt sleeves.

Hey Josh, I'm doing set up tomorrow as well so will probably see you there.
I've run many a trial on the Mead Ranch and never had a dog hurt on the rocks--they're mostly large outcroppings. The only problem I've ever had is when one of my girls think they're Wonder Woman and try to leap across the gravel roads or ditches. Gotten a few face scrapes that way.

Hope to see some of you there, I'll be there all week working as game steward and also merchandise. Should be fun. I also have trained there a number of times and never had a problem. Janet

I don't want to start with the Ledford gossip. What happens in Oakdale stays in Oakdale...
now THAT would be gossip...... What really is happening? Any speculation? :):)

A couple shots I took at the Master National last October. Absolutely gorgeous with plenty of ground to choose from.
