Has anyone had the coat color test done through VetGen? What does the procedure entail? Do I need a vet visit? Information on website is a little vague. So I'd like to hear from someone who had the service done? PM me if you'd prefer.

I used Health Gene - I sent them an email, they sent me a test kit - swabbed the dogs cheeks, sent them a check and the form - 3 weeks later I had my results.

I do not know about VetGen.

FOM

I've used vetgen, do the cheek swab yourself, no vet, results in a couple weeks.

I used Health Gene for my two dogs. Easy Peezy. I would do it for any future labs I got as well, so i know what they carry. It was quite exciting to see if they had any other markers. I only got black and yellow. Neither of them carry any other color. good luck.

Coat test. I used Health Gene because it was about $15.00 cheaper.

Thanks everyone for your quick responses and input. I went ahead and ordered the VetGen test, but I appreciate knowing there is another option from Health Gene if needed.

This is what I found at the bottom of there web site for health gene,

(*) HealthGene Laboratory does not accept samples from US residents for this test.
That is for tests with the (*). I think I have used them for color when VetGen was having slow turn around times.
