FAR from boring!!! it is a bit of a tease though. i can't wait til next year! and sucks even more because beginning of next hunting season, i'll be buying/building a new home. :( means my hunting is going to be limited just like my funds lol. it'll be worth it though

Buy, don't build. The market is down. Houses are cheaper, I don't think construction is yet.

Just here to help regards.

it'll all come down on what i can get for the price.. i've been looking at what me and the gf want, and if we find a house to fit us then so be it, but i would love to buy a couple acres, and build..

soon to be poor regards

Dont buy with the GF thats an even worse Idea! Who is gonna buy who out if yall split? You better have the cash stashed away before hand! Take it from someone whos been there! I wish I would have got told that before I did it !

Buy vs. Build. Here in Illinois both are good.If you buy new, odds are that you are only going to be able to find cheaply built, look alike, large subdivision houses on yards the size of postage stamps. The big builders are hurting but this is all they offer.Pre-existing homes have been sitting on the market a long time now. There are signs up all over the place. One house has been on the market now for two years in our subdivision. The signs stay up a long time and sellers are left with no choice but to deal or pull it off the market. This might be your best bet to find acreage. We built our house in a similar situation in the mid-80's.The builder subdivided land and the building stopped.Interest rates were in the mid teens. He was out of work and starting to hurt.We got our lot for a song and let him build the house. The builder and his wife was also were the people that got us into retrievers. They ran Field Trials at the time and bred dogs.As a housewarming gift they gave us pick of one of thier litters. We have been friends and hunted together since.20+ years. His dog was Boone, mine Tracker. That little story should be in Richards thread about what two dogs got you started.Good advice about not buying with a girlfriend too.I did it that way too when I built my house.I ended up marrying her anyway and now she owns me and the house.

We've already discussed this, I am buying it, she'll just be living there. She told me flat out it's my house and wants ONLY my name on it. :)
