Wow, what a hunt this morning! I don't think I have ever had so much fun! :D
We headed to the pothole before dawn this morning, could hear mallards quacking and woodies whistling a whole bunch. We walked out to the middle of the "pond," made sure that the MOJO is set properly, leaned up against those little trees that inhabit woody ponds, and got ready for take-off.
And take-off came quite quickly! Hundreds of those little birds flew right over us, hardly had time in between to reload! The flight went on for a while too, and when we left, there were still birds coming in.:D
And so, when the guns ceased firing and the birds stopped falling, we ended up with 5 limits on woodies, 8 Green-wings, and a couple mallards. 26 birds - 4 away from totally limiting out. How much more fun can it get?!

Tory did so good, awesome to see a good dog go out there and get those birds picked up. There were so many birds laying on the water that at times, all I had to do was line her up in a direction, and a bird would be brought back. LOL There is one pic of a couple guys carrying 4 birds back, those were birds that had landed around the banks and we didn't know quite where they had landed. One image that sticks in my mind is of Tory chasing a flapping duck across the water - finally capturing it about 30 yards away in those little trees. If bitches getting birds during a pregnancy helps make pups birdy, her pups ought to be the most bird driven pups around! (btw, she is only 3 weeks out of cycle so she and the pups will be fine;))

Enjoy the pics,

Sounds AWESOME !!!!:)

My dog that only got to retrieve one hen widgeon this morning is jealous!
I want a duck hole like that!!

I see some woodies and mallards. What else is in there?
There are 15 woodies, 2 mallards, and 8 teal. All green-wing, some very nice drakes I might add. Wow, I've seen some Woody head-dresses before but some we got today were outstanding! Mounting material right there:)

Where in Indiana where you hunting? A duck hunting buddy of mine is moving there tomorrow for a job and it would be nice to point him in a good direction.

Man, I don't know if I should tell you  IMO Any where in Northern Indiana or southern(near the flyway) should get you a at least a couple ducks. Kankakee Marsh in Hebron, IN(western IN) is nice, Pigeon River in Mongo is one of the largest FWA's in Indiana, second only to the state one. Have a really good Put and Take pheasant hunt there every year.

Abby, you have the right to remain silent.
Any location you name will be hunted with out you.
You have the right to bring a friend to lug gear through the swamp in the dark.
If you cannot aford a friend, one will be appointed for you by RTF before any hunting.
If you decide to hunt without a friend present you will still have the right to stop hunting at any
time until you are able to talk with a friend or hunting partner.
Do you understand?
Knowing and understanding your rights as I have explained them to you, are you willing to reveal hunting spots without a hunting partner present?

Ken Bora
ps- we have no ducks in Vermont. Not one. No hunting spots ether, all posted up! Nothing to see here, move along.
