Damn,,, Damn!!! I can't believe it! Keep us posted. If Pat needs anything I'm there.. We've got plenty of kennel space and can find him a place to live and train PDQ for the interim...

Angie
thanks angie, i am not going to call him again till tomorrow, he has too much to worry about. waiting for the news, the web news sites quit updating... ;-(

I saw a map of the U.S. a few days ago on weather.com of the drought areas of the U.S. 9% of the lower 48 are in an "Exceptional Drought", which is the highest level. And that is the highest of that level in history. It spans from Arizona to Florida.

Prayers are on the way and are needed for all those in harms way. Lord, please send enough rain to help all those with wild fires threatening their homes and livelyhood wherever they live.

"7:45 or so...we drove up 105 almost to Navasota. It hadn't reached 105 yet, but the little road across from the Exxon on 105 @ Stoneham was being barricaded. News crews on the scene...Fox 26 & Ch 2 Houston. Fire command looked to be in the school (?) parking area on the north side of 105 in Stoneham. Traffic slow, extremely smokey...low to the ground. Local ppl say it's nearly out, with residents using backhoes etc to help contain it. There are also RUMORS of another fire near Anderson in Grimes Co. "

this is a comment on the website. the "little road" is the road to Pats place. not good.

if the "rumors" are true even more bad news - quite a few trainers in that area as you all know - some are out for winter

My dad was a volunteer fire fighter for a few years. One of my friends is one currently. The worst thing you can do is go looking at what is happening. Keep the roads clear so they can get thru to the fires. That wasn't at you David, it just brought it to mind. More than anything it isn't safe!

couldnt stand the worries so just called Pat - a friend had just called him and was able to drive across a few pastures and assess the damage - areas all around are burned but Pats house is OK! thats a big relief. did not have a report on the kennel and outhouses. he did confirm the fire has crossed 105 but so far that is 3 miles or more west of Debs moms so hopefully it wont cross over there.....

and dont worry steph - i am 40 miles away.... ;-)

That is good news David!!! Hopefully the kennels and outbuildings were spared also. Boy Pat has had a rough couple of years...:(

Any news on any of the other trainers?

Thanks David!!!

Angie

not much more news this a.m., they have it 40% contained and keeping it south of 105 and west of 1774 - good news for Debs mom, the part that jumped 105 was short lived or at least stopped from advancing. still saying about 30 homes gone. still 10 miles or so from Anderson where Farmer, Wickham, etc all are but it is directly downwind from there and the winds will be increasing as the day goes on so no one can turn their backs yet.

posted an update but it disappeared - apologies if this is a repeat. Pat lost a barn, part of a fence, and 2 hogs. house was spared as was kennel. close call! i can only imagine the nerve wracking past 18 hours he has endured. thanks for all whose thoughts and prayers were with him. he dodged a bullet but many of his neighbors were not so fortunate.

We spoke with Pat this morning. He was staying at Kirk Wichman's. Thank goodness most of his place was spared and that everyone in his family is ok.

We were leaving Brenham yesterday around 4 in the afternoon and saw the huge plume of smoke. Some kinda scary! Everything is SO dry and it has been SO windy around here, It just takes a spark!

i spoke with Pat about 2 hrs ago and he was in pretty good spirits and looks
like that will be all he will lose bad enough but thank God that is all
keep smiling Pat
David

Never thougfht muh of other peoples jobs until now.

If you are a Fire Fighter THANK YOU.
the firemen saved our trailer ( Steve's ) house abot 2AM.

The fire did take it's toll close to me. My neighbor across the road lost his house. Down the road they lost two barns, fires are still threating his home. Helped put out flare ups all day yesterday.

You cannot believe the power of fire until you have seen it up close.
Thanks for the wonderful thoughts and prayers.
Everything I have to say is so hard to type. After all I am moere of a talker.

Thanks again....Pat& Michele
