Yeah, I have those. I don't want to use them unless I have to... While I wouldn't want to pay the ER vet, it's more that I only really trust MY vet... That's more of the issue for me (NOT saying the money isn't LOL).

I feel badly even calling into the office... I had to call today to see if we could crazy glue one of our dog's lips back together. She got this really weird tear - we have no idea how or where. I try to send a fax or leave a msg so they can call me back when I have a dumb question so I don't waste their time.
Same here, though an actual ER clinic would be a 2+ hour drive, local vets here are supposed to rotate after hours coverage. I try not to abuse him and after working for him plus him being my vet for 19 years, he knows I won't call unless it is truly serious and can't wait. Don't want to be known to cry wolf and not get the service when I need it. I know the other vets and just feel way more comfortable with my own.

Peake, hope your dog does fine, let us know.

Advice taken rtf folks on the urgency. Will let you know how it goes with the emergency doc.
Thanks,
Dave

Well, how's this for good news and maybe a litl' luck he passed a childs sock this AM before loading up for the emergency trip! His appetite is back and stool is firming up.
Thanks all,

That's great news! Finally... a dog that is still fazed by that little phrase "We're going to the VET!". :D

I had one chew ~3" from the end of a light weight leather tab collar yesterday while waiting turns between field runs. Doubt it'll be a problem but will watch the poops, just in case!

Dave, that's great news both for your pup and your wallet  I too had a sick dog that looked like she had an obstruction, fortunately during a weekday, off to the vet we went, where she upchucked kong bits all over the vet's waiting room floor! Embarrassing but hey I'll take that over surgery any day.

Re. Blockage problems. A tip.
If your dog starts throwing up and the puke is dark dreen.
You need to get to the vet immediately. That does not mean
that you do not need to worry until then. Just at that point you
really need to worry. From past experience.
