My wife asked if it is safe to use the collar on a pregnant dog? She says there are several medical devices and procedures that won't be performed on pregnant women so how does that translate to dogs?

I'm sure it has been done, but why do you have to do it during that time? They are hormonal when they are pregnant or in heat, and you usually don't correct when they are hormonal because it's sort of counter-productive.

My first attempted litter, I decided to keep training and keep using the collar, the litter reabsorbed. The next one mom got to do whatever she wanted and no collar, litter was delivered with no issue; another litter a few years later same thing. So for me whether it's science or not a pregnant female gets to do what they want, and the collar stays in the box.

While I will put ecollar on a bred bitch, I don't use it, and I try not to put them in a situation where I would be tempted to use it. No scientific basis for it, just don't feel like using it on a hormonal female whose body is in puppy mode.

This exactly what I have going on, it is a reminder to behave but don't even have a transmitter outside. My girls don't do any training during pregnancy, their only focus is being a healthy mom so they go outside to relieve themselves and then they get their choice off of beds, couches, or queen size beds the rest of their time :)

I continue running/trialing my females for the first three week after breeding. Train the same as before breeding. After the three weeks they become a couch potato. Never had a problem with healthy litters.
