Hope the fires are not affecting any RTF'ers. Prayers for all those in fires way........:(

There are several fires around Longview as well. Smoke and ash filled skys. Just washed the Tahoe and ash is all over it. Drove home today and saw two more that just started. Fire trucks were not even there yet.

Pray for rain and all the fireman.

fire scares me more than anything else Mother nature can throw at us.....

After more than an hour of detours to get to my training location yesterday, I decided to lay off for awhile. The only direct effect in my home area is reduced air quality. Hey, at least we got cooler weather, with a low this morning of 53 and a high today of only 93. The local paper posted an interactive map at http://www.statesman.com/news/map-of-fire-centerpoints-1823572.html showing fire centerpoints. The map scale can be changed showing greater or lesser areas and provides an idea of how many fires there are.

Just smoke around here. Was driving down the Hwy earlier and saw a pretty big fire not to far from my house.
What bothered me the most was driving down a country road to my house and saw a lady checking her mail that was smoking a cigerete (sp) and thumped it into the feild by her mail box :(

Not so hot here in Marshall. The whole area is covered in thick smoke with a light ash falling. On the bright side, it finally cooled off a little. I have no idea if the numerous fires in my county are under control.
Great. As if my ratard couldn't see to begin with. I can see her running blinds for marks next week. Ear muffs on the line regards.:neutral:

I might bring my washout with me just to remind myself how it feels to run a yellow dog that can really mark.:lol:

I heard they are not contained.

We recieved 0" rain. Temps have dropped several degrees which will help.

OMG, I would have had to stop and say something about that. That is so wrong...:(:(

Praying for rain down your way! Fires are scarey crap and don't wish them on anyone.

We are blessed.

Yes, we have endured more than a couple of months with temps over 100, no rain for just as long. Trees and plantings have died and the lawn now resembles the dunes along the coast.

I doubt that I have to put out pre emergent for sandburrs - it is too dry for them to sprout.

I've ordered a camel and now understand why those people "over there"(trying to be polically correct) are so irritable!

I've given up on asking for rain - it doesn't make much difference now. Everything has died or is currently disintegrating and blowing away.

Our deer feeder is mobbed by many different deer during the evening, night and early morning. There are no acorns or much water for them...

But, we have not been burned out yet! 1000 families are not so lucky! We have not lost all of our possessions, memories, and keepsakes. We also are still on the right side of the turf...so, we are blessed!

I tried to but there where a couple cars behind me. Maybe should have stoped anyways
Not your fault. It's one of those darn, if only I woulda/coulda deals. But be ready next time! Unbelievable that someone could be so inconsiderate with so much being lost around her.

We know a bunch of our dog friends who have had to evacuate and have not heard if they have been allowed to return to see if they have anything to return to. When Dave left for work today he had the dog trailer hooked up to the truck with a fresh tank of gas in it for me so I would be able to get our 5 dogs and the cat, ironically named Smokey, out if the knock on the door happens.

My cousin and her husband returned to Montgomery this morning from visiting with their daughter over by Fort Polk, LA. The daughter had just found out last week that her husband was injured in an explosion of his HumVee in Afganistan so they went to stay with her until they knew more. Hubby has now been returned to the states and is in a hospital in San Antonio so the daughter headed that way. My cousin and her husband found that their neighborhood was evacuated yesterday so they could not return home nor do they know if they have a home to return to.

It was 61 this morning and only got up to 99.9 today, felt like heaven. Thankful for the cooler temps and grateful to still have a home to feel safe in.

Praying for rain, Please God, send us lots of rain to bring relief for the many firefighting heroes working on those fires! And please give strength and protection to all those whose lives are being changed by the fires.
