I'm getting ready to start my dog box build and I want to be able to securely mount it in the truck but I am not going to simply throw a ratchet strap over it. How is everyone mounting their box in the truck?

5/16 x 2" stainless bolts on all four corners. My insurance agent wanted proof that it was permanently attached to the vehicle before he would cover it. If you aren't going to insure your box then I would definitely go the turnbuckle route for easy removal.

Yeah I'm probably not going to permanently mount it. I'll still need to be able to quickly remove it. I was thinking the chain and turnbuckle idea would work as well. That's probably what I'll go with.

The kennel is bolted to the platform using 1.5" bolts and large washers. I drilled through the rear legs of the platform and installed eye bolts. I used carabiners to clip the eye bolts to the tie down loops in the bed of the truck. Having the elevated platform allows me to slide wingers and lawn chairs under the kennel. And then I have storage room on the platform beside the kennel to keep my bumpers, water jug, bucket etc. Best part is I can strap down a second kennel if need be. Materials cost me maybe $30-35 and a whole case of beer lol. Just make sure you measure the inside width of the box where the tailgate closes or you'll never get the platform in with the cap on! I only used 2x3 lumber to make the frame since its not supporting a ton of weight. I can unbolt it all and have everything out of the truck in about 10-15 mins if need be.
