It's very tough to argue with these presidential qualifications....

Once busted up his knee and refused to get it fixed until duck season ended.

Quote from Mike: "I'm pretty sure there's gonna be duck hunting in heaven“.

As a lifelong hunter, Huckabee loves to hunt deer, turkey, quail, but especially ducks. Remington sent him several cases of shotgun shells with “Mike Huckabee, a Governor who supports the 2nd Amendment” stamped on the hulls.

Only card carrying NRA and DU member in the entire presidential race.

As a side note, he also plays bass guitar in his rock-n-roll band, Capitol Offense, which has opened for Willie Nelson and the Charlie Daniels Band.

You know what is interesting about that picture? His clothes don't look like he just walked out of Cabelas.....if you know what I mean.

I also like the way the dog is looking up, as if it is scanning the skies for ducks....wonder if that is his dog?

That's the first thing I thought. Those don't look like real hunting clothes but something put on brand new for a photo op.

I remember a few years ago at the World's Duck Calling contest, he spoke on stage before the contest. He welcomed all the yankees and out of staters to Arkansas, and urged them to stop by Mack's and other places and spend their dollars in the Stuttgart area!

I remember being more impressed by Huckabee than any politician I've ever seen speak.

I was thinking, he does not look like he is a wanna-be hunter, like he actually uses his hunting clothes.....I wished I could find the picture that had a past President "hunting" - his blaze orange looked nice and pretty and I'm sure if you flipped him over the tags would of still been attached......when people say they hunt, you can look at the clothing and usually tell if they are full of it or not.

As governor of Arkansas made major inputs to the Parole Board to pardon a person who had previously murdered his mother. The Governor said he had found religion!!!!! After the individual was pardoned he went on to kill 2 more people. When confronted with this issue said it was the doing of the Parole Board - the Parole Board members disputed that input by the candidate.

Gun Control is a given with the R's. The candidates just know better than approach the issue. But the issue of being soft on lawbreakers is not a given. Huckabee is running for the wrong party's nomination.

As heard on talk radio - supporters of Huckabee=Hucksters.

BTW, He also has his Conceal Carry Permit. Ever wonder if a Preacher would need to Conceal a handgun for protection? Do you think he would shoot someone if the need be? Seen that on an interview and this would be the first question that I would ask him.

He is also the only Evangelical Baptist Preacher in the Presidential race

For the overall welfare of the United States - most would hope that he isn't on the ballot by the time voting rolls around in your state.

Here is the answer to the hunting and dog questions from some folks that would know.http://www.dancindogproductions.com/showthread.php?t=3048&referrerid=553

Perhaps he will work to save CRP (one of the main reasons for the increases in waterfowl production that has happened over the past few years). This program stand a real chance of dying given all the hoopla over ethanol production.

I like many things about Huckabee, and I mean that sincerely. But the socially liberal side of me has some real issues with him. I graduated from Catholic High School, and on the topic of evolution, their position was - who are we to say how exactly God created everything. Did he have to do it exactly the way it's stated in Genisis? Genisis is lacking in details IMHO. The science I learned in my training to be an engineer never caused me to doubt my faith. It gave me a sense of awe in the beauty of the universe and a great respect for its creator.

Huckabee's qualities listed here make him look to be one heck of a hunting buddy, but...

Careful on the Catholic high education Buzz, there have been a lot of children through certain Catholic high schools that have been mis-taught on a number of issues.

What Gov. Huckabee said is consistent with catholic teaching. See http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/2004/0401bt.asp

Basically the issue with the modern evolution theory that we came from apes gradually is the issue of the soul. Apes have no soul and if we came from apes over time we would in turn not have a soul. There is more to it than that, and I encourage you to take a look at the link it does a great job of looking at how the church views evolution.

As far as Gov. Huckabee goes, I am an Iowan and have to make up my mind so I appreciate this thread.

Buzz, When did Huckabee espouse a literal interpretation of Genesis? Seriously, I want to know.

All I ever heard him do was ridicule the evolution theory that man evolved from apes.

I am a theology student, and there are countless interpretations of Genesis, from literal up to and including Evolutionary-Theory. So even if someone says they "believe in the Genesis account," even that doesn't say a whole lot.

But like I said, I haven't even heard him do that.

I watched a Republican debate when they were asked if they believed in evolution. He said he did not. He didn't state that he believed in a literal interpretation of Genisis, but that's how I took it. I guess I'd like to know more about what he thinks about science. I'm not sure I believe that we evolved specifically from apes, but I would not be surprised if our species has evolved significantly from it's earliest beginnings. When I was taught evolution in school, they told us to keep an open mind, that evolution was a theory and that not all the details were necessarily fact. Then they threw in the - who are we to say exactly how...

" Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue". Senator Barry Morris Goldwater, R Arizona.
Mike Huckabee isn't qualified to be mentioned in the same sentence with Barry Goldwater, he (Barry Goldwater) was a statesman and a patriot, Mike Huckabee is an opportunist

#29 ·
Extremism in either direction is divisive and diviseveness is part of what plagues the country today
That my friends is exactly the heart of the discussion and eloquently expressed. I would gnaw my arm off before I let it pull the lever under Hillary or Osama's name, but the truth is that this guy falls into that same category. I hate voting "against" that SOB, isn't there someone that represents the middle 80% of us? This is America fer crying out loud, is this the best that we can do?

Time to freshen the glass regards

Bubba

Ed he may well be an opportunist, but he or whomever the GOP nominee is, is the lesser of two evils. While I would have preferred Speaker Gingrich or Senator Phil Graham to be the GOP nominee, I would vote for Ayatollah Kockamamie in the flesh in preferrence to ANY of the members of the other party who are in consideration.

Bob,
With all due respect, there are other many more qualified and electable Republicans in the race than Reverend Huckabee whose only apparent qualifications are that he is the former Governor of Arkansas, an evangelical Baptist minister, an NRA member, and a Washington outsider, none of which qualifies him for the most important political office on the planet Earth, the President of the United States of America

Ed, I am not enamoured of any of the GOP contenders in the way I was with Ronald Reagan. The most important thing is not which Republican wins the nomination, but that the man who does CAN win the White House. If that is Huckabee so be it, if it is Mitt or Rudy or Fred or even McCain(with whom I have major disagreements but still respect) I will support that man. I am a Conservative and a Roman Catholic, not an Evangelical, and none of the other parties contenders do anything for me but aggrivate my heartburn.

At this point ,Reagan's 11th Commandment is uppermost in my mind" thou shalt not speak ill of thy fellow Republican"

President Reagan fit his time - his Tax Simplification Act of 1986 was also a very large tax increase which was presented to the public as less taxes. Our Accountant called it the "Full Employment Act For Accountants". Reagan was a former Democrat with those instincts in certain areas. Reagan chose good people to run his departments & let them do their job. He was properly convinced that the private sector, given a reasonable set of ground rules, was enough of an economic engine that it would grow the country's way to prosperity. The last slowdown that the US had occurred in the early 80's - most of you on this board would not remember those days. & we were recovering from energy issues in the mid 70's. People that create that kind of prosperity don't waste their time if the incentive is not there!!

The next President will have several areas to direct their attention to: 1) Dealing with radical terrorism, 2) ILLEGAL Immigration & it's effect on the resources of our country, 3) a Federal Bureaucracy that is in many cases UNNECESSARY, INCOMPETENT & AGENDA driven, 4)continuing the prosperity (by making sure the proper incentives are in place) this country has come to expect, 5) A Congress (which includes both parties) that is hell bent on spending money that doesn't need to be spent. Think ETHANOL!!!

The next president, be they a Republican, will also have to deal with harsh criticism from both the biased press & the Donkeys. In many areas the present President has been unduly criticised & unfortunately IMO decisions have been made to appease those critics that were not in the best interests of the country. This president has not been up to par on his choice of major leaders in his administration. My poster boy for a bad choice is Norm Mineta - Secretary of Transportation - Let's strip search those 80 year old grandma's!!

Barry Goldwater was my kind of leader!!! If you read his books you would understand he knew the limitations of his message - the major thing that his presidency would have done is set a direction for both the United States & the World that would make it a better place today.

When you tout someone be sure you go through their entire message & record - see what will be good for the country long term. Generally what is good for every one is also good for you! Something that has to be readjusted every 3 or 4 years only induces a chaotic environment which creates an a safe haven for the INCOMPETENT! Make sure the person you support has the qualifications & qualities for the position.

The country has elected in recent times 2 southern Governors - Carter - who is hands down the most imcompetent person to hold the job but got a pass because he was a Donkey & Clinton - We all know his record - the greatest achievements of his office were issues the Republicans forced him into - & we still have troops in the Balkans (Clinton's War) that are not talked about on a day to day basis by the press - Why is that??? What some are saying on this post is we should go for a trifecta!!!!!

Paul, that wasn't very nice...

Additionally,

Incite - to move to action : stir up : spur on : urge on

insight - clear or deep perception of a situation

Thanks Buzz, I appreciate your taking on the grammar role for Fallon and KG since they seem to be absent. Lets just say I get tired of people with failed marriages giving advice on how to have a successfull marriage. Can't we just stick to politics where in the end everyone loses....?

The "Word of God"

Is neither all literal or all figureative. It is filled with hundreds of diferent types of figures of speach. Condensensio, polysyndatin, metaphore, asimilie's,,,ect. ect. ect.
It is an eastern book with manners and customs which are different than ours. Hebrew idiums are woven through the old testement.

To think some ya hoo could pick it up ,read a line or two,and give an interpretation of value without putting forth effort is arrogent with no concern for the things of God.

Basic Sciences lines up with most of the bible. If you take the time to underestand it.
And Genesis is incredably detailed.

It is also mathematically accurate.

If there is a contradiction then it must be in our understanding .

To think God who created the heavens and earth could'nt inspire men to write down info concerning the laws which govern life and the needed info to live it to its fullest,,,,, is foolish.

Don't blame God for what you don't know.
