Hunt tests are judged against a standard and are pass/fail. HRC hunt test you handle a real gun and shoot poppers from the line. Camo is pretty much a requirement. AKC hunt test you hold fake gun, they shoot in the field. You can wear darker colored clothing. There are some other differences in the levels. You can run your dog in HRC events, but won't get the points unless your dog is UKC registered. To get your dog registered, you just need to send in an application with a copy of the dog's akc certificate. Field trials are not pass fail and you are ranked against other dog/handler teams. You get points for placements. They are much longer distance marks and blinds than hunt tests. Handler typically wears white jacket.

AKC ribbons are orange.

HRC ribbons are all colors of the rainbow! Some combinations CLASH horribly! Ya can really tell which ones "Bubba" put together!!

HT's are various grade levels of a spelling TEST. Every one in the class can concievably be well prepared and get an "A" (Pass/get a ribbon) There is a test, all who do well go home happy.

FT's are various levels of Spelling BEES.
Derby is maybe the 3rd grade, QAA fifth grade, and AA are the seventh grade spelling bees that the winners qualify for the national spelling bee with is equivalent of the National or National AMeture. there is a series of "words" each round getting a littel tougher until only one goes home the winner.

Once you're hooked all you can do is shine it up the best you can, like polishing a turd. Even if you achieve great success (the odds against you are greater than being struck by lightning), there are only a handful of people you will ever be able to talk to that will appreciate what you have accomplished.

SO, we have a minimum of about $60,000 as the entry fee.

And DO NOT get your wife involved, because the Miscellaneous category is then Times 2! I speak from experience.
