Well, I am going to do it. Getting back into horses, although I am too old for showjumping again (I think).

Dogs will have to wait until I do not have to work. I can't play at the level I want and have a job. I did for a while, and I just can't do it.

It was great, and I'll be back, but I just want a life. . .
I made the same decision this morning. I am not sure I see well enough to jump, but dressage and exercising horses is looking really good.
Think I will resign as department chair too.

Take vacations not related to dog events or work. Australia first and then Italy, and see more of the U.S as well.

Don't go to the Murray-Darling Basin unless you want to be thoroughly depressed (see April 2009 National Geographic) about the plight of people devastated by something beyond their control (drought)

Well we still manage to do other things besides dogs, even though the majority of our free time revovles around them.

We big game hunt, we definately do NOT get out for birds like we use to, in the spring we manage a little golf, we do NOT fish like we use to, we get out and camp, but always manage to train dogs too, throw in some family time and now I have this new addiction which I can't see how it fits in with dogs...riding a motorcycle...can you see me pulling up with a gold wing that has a dog trailer behind it? Hmmm....
Dogs are great, training keeps my blodd pressure down, trialing gives me a good dose of competition, but dogs are not my entire life, even though they are in the drivers seat right now....

Yeah i read that letter. They never addressed a lot of the costs involved.

How ironic that it was written by someone that makes a helluva lot more off this sport than i do! I think the National clubs should start building dog boxes too... I hate to see the millions per year being spent outside the sport with a for profit company.

That is one of the reasons I bought from his competitor to begin with...freaking communist.

Those goofballs are the best advertisers you have Shayne...how much you paying them to promote EE? :)

Hunt more for certain. Get involved in the local Nature Conservancy chapter. Those folks are doing great work getting large chunks of land put aside where it can not be developed and getting kids outside and interested in something besides video games. I would love to hike the Appalachian or Mohawk, but would have to take at least 1 dog with me.

Every fall all training (obedience, agilty, field) grinds to a halt so we can get out and hunt on the 2 days I have off, but I would love to hunt native pheasants out in the midwest, hunt geese down in TX and hunt waterfowl in LA or GA. I just hope my good health holds out until I retire (which is looking later and later in life right now).
