I know Sam is very accomplished and he has lots of offspring in the OFA database, but I was wondering about the titles on the offspring. The pedigree databases are limited to what info has been entered, hence not very complete.

Is there any way to search on AKC or other venue to check out offspring without checking each dog individually?

Any first hand knowledge would also be appreciated.

I have bred to Sam twice. I have a 3 yr old male that is a very hard worker, has a great nose and is beautiful. An interesting character , he was one of the hardest dogs to force fetch ever for me, of several 100's, and if you use not enough pressure gets pretty pouty , but starts to try much harder with a bit more pressure. He is a working gundog, although I did put a JH on him. Photos of Stewart attached. If you go to this http://www.retrievertraining.net/fo...et/forums/showthread.php?112508-My-new-Dual-Ch-prospect&highlight=Dual+Champion you can see my latest Sam puppy , who is also VERY driven to retrieve. I like what I have :)

Thanks everyone. Limit to the retriever results is that it doesn't list non-field accomplishments such as obedience or tracking. I did get the info I wanted though.

Huntinglabpedigree.com shows 10 breedings with 9 titled offspring. But only the dogs from each litter that have been entered into their site. Very good place for research.

I have bred to Sam twice and of the five working dogs that have been participating in hunt tests four out of 5 have senior titles, three are getting ready to start master (they just turned 3 and one just turned 2) and one has one senior pass left. I also own a sam puppy who will be 4 in February. She is by far the easiest and smartest dog I have ever had. She has the most pleasant disposition, she was easy to force and she had her masters at 25 months (so did her littermate). I do believe Sam gives great looks, but what I have noticed in the breedings I have had experience with are that the females tend to take on the mother's characteristics. This has been true for Maggie as well as the pups out of the litters with Lucy. Sam is a great dog who is gorgeous, not too big, sociable, easy and loves to work. He give the dogs great looks but I hold more value on the mom than the dad in this equation.

And several dogs who are not hunt test dogs have competed in obedience and have titles, and one is a therapy dog. I think the world of Sam and his pups.

This database and others like it are limited to who entered what info. The EE search was more helpful because it shows all dogs that have participated in field events. It stilll doesn't necessarily show other venues unless the owners included those titles.

There ought to be a way to search the AKC database for a complete progeny report, but I know there isn't.

Meredith, you can buy a progeny report for any dog from AKC.

"Progeny Report:

A progeny report lists all offspring of the selected sire or dam that have earned an AKC title, such as Champion (Ch) or Companion Dog (CD). This report does not list offspring that have not earned an AKC sanctioned title. Click here for a list of titles. If you select the option to include the sire(s)/dam(s), your report will list both parents. We do not offer a report that lists dogs that have not earned a title. "
