Hello all,

I have a 13 mo. YLF she is in heat currently and has been for 12 days now. We have not done any intensive training because her focus is not there. The most we have done is steady drills, fun bumpers, and light obedience. Tonight we did some fun bumpers and I noticed that she was running funny off her front right leg. She is not favoring it like it hurts she is simply not stretching it out like she should be. My question to all of you more experience trainers is this... Should I be concerned about this? Do you think she could just be tight from not training? Could it be a joint issue? Could it be due to her being it heat? I am new to the dog training world and to the female dog world. This is the first dog I have let go through her first cycle. I am concerned about it because she did not have a problem with it before. I am going to continue to keep an eye on it, but was just looking for some insight. Have any of you had similar problems?

Thanks,

Brett

I have intact bitches. I have never seen them run funny because they're in heat.

Mentally distracted yes, higher than a kite and not missing anything, yes, limping or running funny on thier fronts, no.

Howard,

What about a pulled muscle? She is not favoring it or acting like it's hurting by limping just not reaching out as far as she does with her left foot. I would be more concerned if she were limping I would be more concerned. I am still concerned but I cannot figure out what is causing it.

Thanks for your insight I appreciate it.

Sorry Brett, I don't have a clue what's ailing her or not ailing her. Something to watch for sure. Hope it's just her being her and it doesn't last long.
