Sorry for the slow reply I went out of town today and just got back on the computer. My pup is a Chcolate lab male from Wind River Labs in Ephrata. He is 5.5 months old. he will be 6 months on the 13. He was from the Gem and Sundae. I picked him up the day after Christmas, on our way to Omak to visit my dad for Christmas. That next day (Thursday), my dads 5 y/o old chocolate male bit him. We at first thought the blood we say was from loosing tooth. The jaw looked funny but we called the breeder and she thought the same thing (lost tooth). Friday it looked like someone put a tennis ball on the side of his mouth. We took him to the vet in Omak and the confirmed the dog bite, he had a puncture wound and a scrath on his eye, and a broken jaw. He had surgery and removed the piece of bone from his jaw and cleaned up all the infection and so on. He is all healed up now. I took hom to my vet in Prosser a week later and the scratcg is gone and he is all healed up. The adult tooth is stii lin their and may or may not come in.

I want to train hom for hunting, hunt test and field trials. I will take all the help in training I can get. I have a collar, choke chain, buying a check cord this weekend do I need a 35 or a 50 footer, I also have a shock collar. I joined the retriever club in Tri-Cities this week.

Thanks for all the welcomes

A friend had same thing happen...his older dog bit his pup and broke the jaw. After permanent teeth came in, the younger pup had to have a couple of the teeth pulled due to poor alignment. Nothing more came of it....pup grew up and can eat just fine, hunts well, etc. Good luck!

I'll try to look you up at the SSHRC test in the spring! Maybe Lee can help you w/ Collar Conditioning and FF??? I personally like the Evan Graham book, SmartFetch. It seems to wrap everything together nicely. Anne

Anne,

That would be great. Ross from the SSHRC is going to help me train my dog. I will be at the sportsman show this coming up weekend, if anyone will be there let me know and maybe we can hook up.
