Was supposed to fly to Atlanta and then on to Valdosta Tuesday morning. CANCELED . Rebooked me to Wed noon time flight. Storm you guys had is now up here in New England dumping heavy snow. Flight CANCELED. Oh well, maybe the weather will be better next week down your way. The pup is still getting her daily training south of the snow line so I'm sure she's happy.

Thirty-seven years ago when I moved from Colorado to Texas, I swore I'd never shovel snow again and I have kept my word. This storm reminds me of my last bout with Colorado snow. I worked a Quarter Horse sale at the fairgrounds in Peyton after an overnight snow fall of 12 inches. The auctioneer flew in from California and made it ok after the interstate was opened. One of the field men who lived 20 miles from the fairgrounds couldn't make it, however, due to drifting snow.

I moved from Idhao to the Appalachia region of Virginia this summer and folks round these parts don't like snow much. I am surprised at how little snow it takes to shut everything down. Our college has been out almost all week so far and might miss the first whole week of the semester due to snow and ice. On monday it was near 30 degrees and the main roads were clear so we had a late start to accomodate students and faculty who had to travel secondary roads. Just a few inches of snow but people were in a panic and upset that we had school! I guess I am used to driving on snow all winter like we did in Idaho but in this area it is a lot different.

What are the news station saying about the road/access conditions for the GB Packers vs Falcons this coming weekend?

Not looking good in Kentucky either.........looked at 10 day forecast highest Hi for the day is 35 one day..........snow for 6 out of ten days. Hope that we have a let up before we freeze...LOL.

The roads are horrible in SC, we ran out of sand and.
Sand, what that stuff makes a mess. That is the excuse around here for not using sand. They never put any sand on the roads because it is messy. I'm not kidding. I moved to NC 10 years ago, and I have yet to see sand used anywhere, other than my driveway.
First year I was here both hubby and I called in late to work stating we would come in once they put some sand down. People were shocked since we were from New England and had 4 wheel drive, Well many people ended up spinning out on the road to the corp headquarters. Why, it was sheer ice and no sand.
Of course the day before everyone bailed at some snowflakes and we worked the whole day. I'll drive in snow but not ice.

The news here this morning showed pictures of people on ice skates skating up and down Peachtree St in downtown Atlanta the other night! Unbelievable!

I saw that too, and so did the mayor and evidently it was more than he could stand because this morning the news was that P'tree St. had been thawed and cleared overnight by city crews. No more skating.

Supposed to have a big thaw Saturday (finally!), so things should be in good shape for Sunday's defeat of Green Bay. ;-)
Wanna take that back?? Looks like the snow wasn't the only thing that thawed! LOL :cool::cool:
