That neck is a mess.

I know you usually pay in advance for the trainer, but if you wrote a check when you picked up the dog, I'd stop payment.

It's also strange that the dog has to lose some weight after coming home from the trainer--I've never had that be a problem.

How many dogs are in this guy's kennel?

i paid mostly cash since i make tips in the summer.

kolby isn't overweight i guess but she could lose a couple lbs. she's a small frame dog but just doesn't look like she's in shape. i guess i haven't seen too many dogs come home from the trainer and look like she does.

he currently has 4 dogs plus his. my dog was the 5th when i picked her up. she was one of three when i dropped her off. the strange thing is that he only has 3 kennels, though his dog stays inside.

Get the vet to put in writing that they felt that the infection was at least 1 week old and should have been attended to much earlier. Print out this forum thread and get it notarized, and sue him in small claims court for all training costs, vet bills and even try for pain and suffering damages for the dog. I don't think any judge would rule any other way than in your favor.

Just have to say again, for all you new people here who may be thinking of sending your dog for training, please learn from this poor guy and his dog.

There are many bad, bad trainers out there, along with many fine ones. Do your homework, ask for references, go watch the guy train, see how the other dogs look and act, before you ever leave your dog.

Was thinking about this thread this morning because my severely allergic client dog had a small spot flare up overnight... So he was shaved and medicated this morning... It was about the size of a dime on the side of his neck... yuck...

Sounds like some so called Pro's I know that have full time jobs, trained a decent HT dog, then decided to call themselves Pro's.

They find out quick enough as do their customers that they arent' pro's at all. I've only used one pro and he was full time dog trainer that came with references, a web page, etc.

Sorry about your experience. Live and Learn:)

I have seen that same type of sore on a dog I picked up from a trainer, he told me it was from the plastic coated bright orange collar that was on her. Needless to say we never went back with that trainer.

Oh my word...I'd be pissed for not sharing the medical info. IMO since the dog came back worse both pysically and from the training aspect he should refund the monies that was payed for the training.
He probably takes care of his money about like he cares for his dogs. You won't see a dime. I'm very very sorry about your dog. Glad she's back home
