I've been packing daily meds in liverwurst and think the damn dog is allergic to that too. He's allergic to shadow.
I hate sticking pills down dogs throat and need something to give pills that doesn't involve food of any kind.
Has anyone made a "pill Injector" out of syringe or something?

I think you can find pill guns at any vet supply place, but I'd bet after one or two uses it would be even more of a PITA than shoving pills down the throat. I have something called a bolus gun for the horses but it's hard to use. They hate the sight of it and a horse is much bigger and stronger than a dog. Both mine are way taller than me when they crane their heads or rear up to avoid wormers or meds. It's much harder to trick horses into eating things mixed with food. Mostly I dissolve their meds with Coca Cola and pour it on their grain. I'd think it would be easier to just shove the meds down the dog's throat than fool with one of those. Shove down the pills and blow in the dog's nose--that makes it swallow.

You still have to stick this down their throats. Pet smart item. I find it easiest to mix the pill with some food which they eat readily. Purina has a beef stew mix which camouflages the pill and my old fellow loves. But mind you he might eat the pill by itself!

Have you tried Pill Pockets, hypoallergenic form? Expensive, but generally work well.

i know you asked for a "no food method" and stated he is allergic to "everything". but "cheeze whiz" in a can works great for picky eaters and is easier imo than wraping in meat, cheese, etc. squirt cheeze on your finger, stick the pill on your finger, done. you prob don't have to worry about dairy allergy with canned cheeze and it's pretty good on a cracker too.;-)

I have a really bad pill spitter. I hide the pills in peanut butter and apply it directly to the roof of her mouth.

If you can use the hypoallergenic pill pockets I too recommend them. I had a girl who for love nor money would take pills. No matter how you disguised them she'd have nothing to do with them so stuffing was my only option. Well this girl got osteosarcoma in her mouth......how the heck was I going to stuff her meds down her throat with painful cancer in her mouth??? Pill pockets were the answer. I'd put in the pills, roll them into a ball, toss it in the air and my dog jumped and caught the pill pocket every time. That's how I fed her pills. It works!!!!! She never spit them out.

This is not to rain on your parade but for anybody who has a puppy start from day l , opening their mouth, and do a pretend exam, even putting small pieces of dog food down their throat for practice. Many years ago in 1978 , I had a dog who while taking a Jan 1st walk w/my young son at that time got a front paw caught in a muskrat foot-trap where trapping was not allowed. Besides death howls, and breaking several teeth by the time I got to her, she had enough presence to allow me to pry open the trap w/o biting me. All my dogs must open their mouth w/NO hesitation. It is like FF. Suggestion.

Allergic to cheese? We have always used half of a slice of Kraft cheese and smushed it around the pill. Typically goes down in one gulp. More of a treat than anything.

Have you tried the 2-treat method of feeding pills? Put the pill in a treat the dog really likes. (I usually use butter; and none of my dogs are ever fooled by margarine. I've tried the pill pockets. None of my dogs have liked them. One would spit them out faster than she would a pill.) Hold the pill with the treat in front of dog's mouth, with second treat right behind it. Most dogs will be so eager to get the second treat, too, they will gulp the first one down without chewing it, so they can grab at the second treat.

I use peanut butter too but if the sob detects pill, out it comes.
Maybe ill try cheezwiz. if that doesnt work the pill injectors may.
I hate allergies.

My dainty eater, who crunch crunch crunches one piece of kibble at a time during chow time, typically takes the buttered up pills I give her very gently from my fingers, sucks the butter off the pill, and then spits it out. So often I resort to stuffing the pill down her throat instead.

BUT....Lately she is just taking the buttered up pills no problem! Maybe she has learned that buttery pills beats being gagged?

Anyhow I offer this tale in case it gives you hope, that if you stick it out your dog will learn, too!

Putting the pills in a pure fat (such as butter) is a good idea IMHO if you are worried about food allergies, as fat is naturally hypoallergenic (since allergies are reactions to proteins)!

Ok havent tried butter. Got a ton in the freezer, been to lazy to bake cookies!
Come to think of it I imagine you could soften stick of butter, add your pills and then refreeze in bite size bits. Hum?

I just open the mouth and drop pill to back of tongue hold mouth closed and blow in their nose which makes them swallow.
