a friends cousins co-worker said.......... guys is there a chance this is not true? I wonder.

Ken brings up a valid point. Most of these emails can be checked on scopes.com. This particular one wasn't there but some close.

There is a local veterinarian who has done just that and worse in our area.

They gave the late Keith Baker the wrong dead dog, and when he got it home to bury it, he opened the box. Wrong dog had indeed been euthanized.

I have seen them take in a litter of puppies with parvo, put them on their scales to weigh them, and never clean the scales before using them again.

Two summers ago, they treated one of my closest friend's cats for a broken spine, although the x-ray showed nothing of the sort (they even told her that). This cat had been to their office for several years, supposedly getting the correct vaccinations, etc. Turns out they forgot to give it any rabies shots, and it had rabies! They even were kind enough to bill her for the disposal of the animal.

They have been reported to the state board many times, but in our resort area, there is a great deal of transient traffic, so they keep getting new customers.

I used them many, many moons ago . . . not now!

Careless, and stupid! I would be contacting the provincial veternary board and make a complaint/statement outside of the fact that they would be responsible for the purchase of a pup of your choice, and the veternary care for the life of that dog at another vets office. If that did'nt happen the news, and then a lawyer would be involvednot nessesarily in that order.

I actually saw this first hand one day. The Correctional Facility I work in had (No longer sends inmates to the city Pound) Communittee Service workers at the city pound. From time to time we would "Just Drop in" to check on them and make sure everything was up and up. I walked in and checked on the inmates, everything was cool with the inmates. While I was in the back I heard some shouting from up front and walked out to see what was wrong. Well it turns out that a lady had brought in a German Shepard to get a Chip installed, instead they put her down.

All hell was breaking loose, I guess the lady's only son had Downs Syndrom and the dog was his companion.... Needless to say she wanted me to arrest them, which I couldn't do. The people at that pound are not exactly good people anyway, but they just sat and argued with the lady and told her "to be more responsible." The gal that said that thought the dog had been picked by the pound, instead of her bringing it in for the procedure. As soon as the gal behind the counter said "Be more responsible" I escorted the lady out of the building to avoid the incident that was about to happen. I told her to call the local Police Dept and make a formal report. Then Call an attorney. I never did hear back from her but it was a very bad situation.

This gives me an idea... I know at our vet clinic, and probably others, they put the little paper collars on them with their names... Maybe in big red letters, a sharpie, you can write DO NOT kill my dog. I was going to say do not euthanize, but maybe someone would see euthanize and miss the "do not".... ugh

OMG!

I guess I'd be in jail.

How could that happen?

Did this really happen?

I talked to my friend again, to make sure I had the information correct, (so I didn't look like a total turd....) and she said that is what her cousin told her. (her cousin works with the one that it happened to) I know its a story of a friend of a friend of a friend, and the possibility of correct information getting mixed up is great especially after its told to the friend of a friend a couple of times. Most stories come from someplace and do have a bit of trueth to them. I truely wish and hope that this was just a slightly exagerated story, but if its not, I can't even possible imagine what the owner of the puppy is going through, and I for one would be in a lot of trouble if this were one of my pets. Have a great day everyone.

This so reminds me of a story that happened in the next town over from me a vet took in a young dog and kept telling the owners the dog was sick (was later found was giving medicine to make the dog vomit and such) and said the dog had something that was uncurable and then when the owners brought the dog in to be put down they left the dog and took off as they couldnt handle being there and the vet didnt put the dog down but sold the dog (was also in the local papers and I saw the article so know this is true) and the old owners of the dog ran into the new owners of the dog and told them that it looked like their old dog and asked where they got it and they told the old owners from that vet and well luckily the dog had been microchipped from the old owners and it was found to be the same dog.

I also had an experiance with my personal vet who ended up killing my dog by giving him a shot of selnium and vitiamin definciancy (was a horse shot and wasnt ment for dogs was designed for pigs and horses) which ended up putting my dog into liver failure and we ended up having to have him put down four days later took in a healthy dog and ended up loosing my boy later. I am still heartbroken and decided not to sue the vet although I easily could have with all the information I had but I figured it isnt going to bring my boy back so why do it. He was only 6 years old so I know for a fact that vets can abd do make mistakes sometimes leading to heartbreaking outcomes.

I also know of a shelter that got a call about a German shepherd who had gotten loose (the owner was gone and had someone taking care of her kennel) and the dog got loose from the guy and was pregnant well the guy called all the vets and shelters and gave them not only the description but the tatoo number , microchip number, collar and tag numbers and such and they spayed the girl (was an import breeding with semen from germany) and adopted her out to a family and the owner when she got back into town had a heck of a time trying to get her dog back ended up taking it to court and still ended up loosing the dog even though she could show ownership and the guy that was watching took flyers into the shelter with the dogs picture and id info on it.
