ok, I know this has been discussed on here before, but my search brings up nothing. I was wanting to know the % of genetic contribution of ancestors. You know, how much do the parents, grandparents, etc. bring to the puppy. I found this on line:

Generation 1 2 3 4

% contribution 50 25 12.5 6.25

is this accurate?

Good luck everyone. :)

Not that there is a formula in the book, but as a breeder I have always enjoyed Robert Wehle's book "Snakefoot: The Making of a Champion" He has some thoughts in there about traits that are passed in breeding. If you enjoy this topic, it is a very enjoyable read.

Agreed. A tremendous read for any sporting dog enthusiast, with insight to Mr. Wehle's breeding principals.
