the numbers and species where not what we had hoped for. The fun was all we could tand and then some. I hunted with lots of folks, lots of dogs, and lots of laughs. Sometimes I hunted damn hard and made it happen, and sometimes I just drank coffee and took what luck gave me... I can't rank anything because to give the negative the numbers and species would reflect, would take away from the time I spent in God's outdoors with my friends and family and dogs... I had a ball. 3 more days of hunting, and then next weekend my favorite weekend the youth hunt... And i'll love every minute of it. travis

Season in ky has been pretty bad this year but my girlfriend surprised me with a golden pup this afternoon so next season has to be better!
Well, let's see the picture! Congrats on the new pup!

The season hasn't been bad as far as the numbers we've killed for the weather we've had. The days we had good weather we killed ducks, and the days we didn't, we didn't kill ducks. I've killed less ducks in a season than this one, but I don't know if I have as many days with not popping a safty as I did this year, we either killed 0 or we killed 10, just been a funky season.

This all can be somewhat relative to age of the hunter. Some youngins might think that this was the best ever because they got to shoot at a duck. Some seniors might think that this was the worst ever because they got to shoot at only one duck!

For me though, it wasn't very good. Probably the worst ever as far as numbers of birds bagged. Lack of storms made the CA rice a bust this year!

Best ever as far as duck numbers and spiecs, Around 30 ducks, including 7mallards, 1 Gadwall, 9 Buffleheads, 4 Hodded Mergansers, 9 Wood Ducks.
As for geese not so good 14 so far, we can hunt until middle of February.

I wish we lived close to a flyway, but not so bad for Southwestern Pa.

You guys that have the same numbers and fell bad are awfull lucky to live where you do. We have to hunt and scout hard to get the numbers I have got. But I would not have it anyother way.

The old dog is getting some good work.

It would have been ok at best (little to no water to hold ducks) if it weren't for my pup doing better than I ever could have expected. He retrieved ~21 ducks a few of which I handled him too. Not bad for his first season. It is great when they surprise you!

I have already posted on another thread: Tooka picked up 473 birds. 2 Mallards, 2 Dos gris, 1 widgeon, 6 spoonies, and less than 50 teal. Everything else has been grey ducks. And I have only hunted 1 time in the last 3 weeks with the baby coming. Given the way the season was going I think she would have been in the 550-600 range. There ware over 700 killed out of my camp.

We hunted big fancy blinds, sat in the mud on potholes, the middle of huge lakes, and did the old scout and shoot. Had a ton of variety in the hunts this year.

By far the best, most consistent season in the last 12+ years. Had a buddy that shot over 4 cases of shells... More of a operator issue than birds though. Haha.
When I read stuff like this I always wonder how this can be done legally or are there any rules at all that anyone in Louisiana follows? How do you legally store that many ducks and better yet how can you stand to eat that many?

Had to work hard scouting and with the weird weather pattern, just never know what's the bird gonna do. Having a good season with ducks nontheless but especially goose and good amount of specks.

No limit on how many you can store. What makes you think it's an illegal amount?

Had a great season here, all the dogs did well. Only got skunked on 1 hunt.

Let me put it this way---Today Rocket retrieved his first RABBIT.

While walking out from hunting a rabbit jumped up and I shot it. Rocket held steady and then I sent him. Not only did he fetch it but delivered to hand. Maybe if this master thing doesn't work out we can compete in beagle trials.;-)

The Year of the Duck that never happened for several people this season.

I saw the duck numbers up in SK this year and the biologists were telling the truth. The terribly warm winter the country experienced this season was the main factor on why it was so slow for several people in the states.

Hope the guys in the south finish up strong this last weekend.

Sour Grapes are ugly. You watch too much TV my man. Don't believe every stereotype. I own the camp and all leases are in my name. I have lost friends and asked people to leave in the middle of hunts because of broken game laws. I will not tolerate someone putting my hard earned assets at risk. If you PM me your email address I will send you our hunt logs and you can dissect the blow by blow. All of our ducks are eaten. I, my sons, and my hunting buddies love to eat duck. I have over 15 really nice recipes. I also have quite a few people who appreciate ducks given to them.

So with that said, do not question my integrity.

Fed rules state no more than two days limit can be in your possession period!
REMOVAL OF WATERFOWL FROM POSSESSION CAN OCCUR ONLY WHEN CONSUMED OR GIFTED!

I believe Louisiana's possession limit is twice the daily bag limit.
