Of course ,If' the OP knows of a stud dog, that they like? they would not require a website?.Hmmm? I wonder if the same have a list of litters that are available from other kennels?..If none are available?...So where does the op go from there?
Just a thought?......not having a dig!;)
It's called Google. You might give it a try. Just put in "Cody Cut a Lean Grade" or "Riparian's Windfall" and you'll be amazed what you can find. That's how I got my last two pups. I'm certain that that caliber of dog you might not have seen over in Scotland.;-) Not a dig..... Just having fun:cool:

Dunno if a curse or blessing for a pup seeker that Scotland is 2/3 the population of New York City alone. More choices or too many?

polmaise - what's the incident of backyard bred or newspaper dogs in your parts? And what about show lines?

Hey , Gary and hntfsh, I can cut the breeze with anyone.:D
Google ain't my first mate when I'm looking for a dog (god forbid it ever will) ..call me old fashioned ?..but I kinda like to 'know who and what, and what I want?.not what somebody else has said or say's?.. (but that's just me!) :D
Scotland may well be miniscule in size per population to almost any state in the US!, that doesn't mean it is 'pro-rata' the same percentage of good or bad dogs or breeders?> that's just statistics!..not dog's!;)
...
Show lines? Hmm 'expand on another thread HNTFSH ? that is taking away from the OP request. (imo)
.......
As a matter of discussion however, I have selected and or picked every dog I have had,or bred or lined with ,by ''knowing and physically seeing the sire and dam'' and in some cases the sires sires and dams in the shooting field!..I never go by recommendation or especially a report written by anyone who is selling!...directly or indirectly.
That said, I can't remember the last time I actually bought a pup??? haha

I don't need to put my hands on Grady or Ricky or Timber, (my next pup), to know he's a GREAT Sire. I've only need to see the Dam, her accomplishments and her lines. Most of that can be checked out on huntinglabpedigree.com and a phone. I don't think the owners of those sires would just breed to any old dog when their dog's name is associated with the litter. We have a lot more to offer here in the good old U.S of A. so time on the phone and the web is well used. There are no guarantees when purchasing a pup so all you can do is your homework and check thier references. Oh, and they must be yellow!;-)

polmaise - cuttin' wind sometimes seems more like it. But either way hands on knowledge of the pup through sire and dam is always great. No disagreement there. That said - most serious buyers here aren't willy-nilly googling either, or at least it isn't recommended.

My point on geography was just that. We have more options over more time and space - the best choice is still the best choice be it 2 hills over or 402.

And I agree - never read a litter ad that didn't state the sire and dam were excellent markers, tractable, loving at home, have an on/off switch and never lost a bird. :) That's just filter work we have to do.

Depends what 'you are looking for'? like I said Gary!..So far for me (personally) I've only twickered my eye towards 'Slider'!..? In the whole of the good old U.S of A.?..but then that's just 'me'!:D...As for ''A lot more to offer'?.....I don't see many advertised for coming here from the 'Good old USA'?..but plenty going over your way? ;-),for whatever reason?....I would have thought you lot had enough to choose from?..:p

I don't know?... Maybe want to get off an island and stretch their legs?:D

Just another possibility.......have you considered a started dog or maybe a FT washout or even a dog retiring from trials? Generally you can get a dog for a 30 day evaluation & the dog will be ready to hunt this fall. During the 30 days you can assess the dog's training & habits, investigate the dog's background and determine if the dog is a good fit. I have had two such dogs both of whom are QAA (one a titled MH & having been to the MN) with AA placements, both are wonderful with kids, in the house and both are great hunting dogs, having been exposed to duck hunting, doves & pheasants who I have let others have because I knew they were going to good homes where they would be the only dog, still get to do what they enjoy & be the family pet too. And the new owners knew what they were getting and had 30 days to evaluate the dogs or an option to give them back if they didn't fit. Both said no-way I'd get them back. Just a potential option to consider. And maybe a way to go about that search would be to post what you are looking for right here in the RTF want ads.

From what I've been able to find so far I really like Taylor farm kennels, and big creek labs. But if I'm gonna spend that much on a lab should I just go to candlewood kennels, or am I just paying more for the name than I am for the dog?
I've got a Big Creek dog that's being trained at Taylor Farm Kennel and I couldn't be happier with either one of them. David does a great job with his puppies. If I was in the market and he had a breeding I liked I wouldn't hesitate to buy another puppy from him.
