Well Santa said I could have a new rifle, rifle scope or rifle stock for Christmas (mine is cracked). I've decided to go with a new rifle scope. Been wanting a new one for a long while. I have also grown to love my rifle - it use to be a big heavy worthless stick I drug around the woods and the year before I got my first animal I slipped on the ice and crack the stock - just a hair line crack at the top where the barrel rests, has no affect on the performance/safety/operation of the rifle, just looks ugly, not to mention the 101 scratches I have on the stock, too. But figured I'd continue to scratch up my stock and the animals don't really care what the stock looks like, so...and I don't really "need" a new rifle as I'll probably always shoot a 30-06 as I'm comfortable with that caliber and it can kill an elk as good as any other rifle out there.
But anywho, given my options, I think I'll go with a new scope. I currently have a Leupold Vari-II 3x9-40mm It's been a good scope, but I'm wanting a slightly larger scope that can reach a little further. I'm also wanting the scope with the distance reticles (google Nikon BDC). I'm curious if anyone has one of these scopes, has used it for distance and what your thoughts are? Or does anyone have a different version of scope that has the same concept as the Nikon BDC?
