I've recently got permission to hunt a farm that had 5 different ponds on it and I don't wana deal with a boat to drag around when I wana move to a different pond to hunt. Does anyone have or know of a contraption to be able to rig decoys to be able to get them in and out quickly. I'm sure the ponds are to deep to Wade in out toward the middle. I'm thinking along the lines of some kinda gang rig setup:confused:

just tie them in a line with heavy weights on the two end ones, but you still have to get them out there, a very small boat that you could throw them in and drag from spot to spot is what i'd probably use, then you don't have to deal with that.

Shawn...a 10" jon boat would make it a lot easier for putting out and picking up your decoys in smaller farm ponds. Puddle duck decoys (mallards) on a line is kinda unnatural.
Just toss them out and retrieve them with a rod and reel if all else fails. :)

They have those little sled things which you can toss your decoys into. Run about 40 bucks or so... simply haul across the grass. We like using them in snowed-over fields here in MD. Toss your fishin' pole in (as BMay suggested) and you're set if you simply link up your dekes.

But, as mentioned, a line of puddlers isnt normal, and increases chance of flaring.

if the ponds are too deep to wade then the ducks arent going to be there anyway (except divers) the puddle ducks that most desire will opt for the shallower ponds where they can tip up and feed on the shallow submerged roots and tubers..the deeper ponds may be resting water...look for the ponds that have the "groceries" and set up on the edges, always leave the ducks a pocket to land in

Around here they land in any depth water 1'-20' but yeah I know what you mean by grocery ponds. My friend just bought the 500 acres in early spring so I haven't had time to pattern them yet. They fly from a small river to theses ponds

Our solution to your problem was conventional, one line per, decoy rigging and the apparently unconventional command "decoy fetch".

(And, no, it didn't cause confusion in the field or at tests.)

I hunted a pond that was too muddy too wade in , Taught Beamer to fetch up decoys. If you saw the look of digust on his face as he was ding it, confusion later at tests would not be an issue.

I have also rigged two decoys together with bout 4 feet between them, that way you don;t have line of them, and an easy place to hook between them with a hook or fishing line.....

A pirogue mght be the ticket, I have one and it is light enough topull around and get into tight areas and small ponds.
