ok, here's my secret Foo-Foo tip of the day-Don't go sharing this with anyone who might be showing a dog in Seattle anytime soon-

Baby shampoo, the cheap store brand.

leaves plenty of oils, gets out the dirt and they smell like little babies.....that sleep with wet Chessies......

This is my favorite Hypo-Allergenic Coconut Shampoo by Espree Mild, tearless formula reduces tangles and leaves coats full of healthy shine without the drying or irritation caused by many detergent shampoos

I just use whatever is on the shelf in the wife's bathtub. She complains for about a week. Afterwards I no longer hear "your dogs stink" for at least a year. Yesterday she let it slip so it may be bath time tonight.

Lemon scented dish soap and furniture polish. Show people use it and it makes them smell awesome and they have soft shiney coats! Used it for years.

I am a professional groomer and my own dogs get bathed frequently.

If you feed them a good diet and totally wash out all shampoo residue you will not dry their coats or skin out. I find dirty dogs have more flakes than my clean girls ever do!

I love ISLE OF DOGS shampoo and products. They can be pricey but work excellent. They have all sorts of special stuff specific to breeds too. I mainly use their "groomers" line since I get it at cost. But their evening primrose shampoo is awesome.

Our dogs don't get a bath very often but when they do we use baby shampoo. Vet recommended. If coats get gnarly or dry skin, we treat with Humilac by Virbac. Sure helps.

When sporting dogs swim in yucky water fetching fowl it's only common since they need a bath when they come home. Just rinsing them off doesn't get the yuck off their skin and hair coat. Especially when they are house dogs like many of your dog are.

Two great shampoos for just those times

Groomers Edge Grimeinator http://www.groomersmarket.com/groomersedgegrimeinatorshampoo.aspx

Also Ph of dogs VS human skin - dogs skin ph is 6.8. people skin is 5.8.

I don't wash my male dog because he is dirty, I wash him because he STINKS!

Bio Guard is made for dogs and makes him smell fresh for a week or more! Recommended by two serous field trialers. won't wash out spot on flea and tick protection.
