I received a box of bumpers from Dogs Afield today for SSG Schneider when he returns from Afghanistan. I cut the price off the invoice, but left the return address of sender bc I know he and his wife will want to write a thank you note. (UPS delivered, USPS has not delivered yet: will update if more arrives) His wife and kids are heading back to Fort Campbell this week to prepare for his arrival to the states in about 2 weeks. I want to thank the RTF community for their outpour of support, their prayers, and their willingness to step forward and honor a family who have given so much of themselves for this country that we love.

If you didn't read in a previous thread: I have been collecting training equipment for SSG Schneider to get his new pup (which was donated by an RTF member) started on the right foot.

SSG Schneider is finishing up his 2nd tour of duty in Afghanistan and has also served a tour of duty in Iraq. SSG Schneider was awarded the Bronze Star for assisting a company pinned down by enemy machine gun and small arms fire with no regard to his personal safety. Schneider also rendered aid to a Soldier who was wounded in action during the ordeal. He was also awarded a Silver Star, the 3rd highest military honor, on this deployment during Operation Strong Eagle. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with the 2d Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Schneider distinguished himself by valorous actions against armed and heavily fortified enemy during Operation Strong Eagle in June and July 2010.

received the Cabela's gift card I was expecting from Las Vegas today. Thanks BM!! It is about 8 days until SSG Schneider arrives in the states. His wife and children will be heading back to Fort Campbell to prepare for his arrival tomorrow. They are so excited and will be beyond touched when they see everything RTF has contributed for them to get their new puppy acclimated on the right foot.

I will get back to Campbell in about 51 days, but who's counting. Pass SSG Schnieder a note to contact me at steven.oatman@us.army.mil and I can get him linked into our training group. We have dogs training at all levels with access to great private land and water and always welcome newcomers.

awesome, i'll pass the e-mail along. if you want to send him a PM his username on here is "RLTW!" He'll be PCS'ing to Ft. Walton to start his time on a Ranger Instructor not too long after his return. I know he's going to want to see some folks working some more advanced dogs, so if you can hook him up with some guys in the area before he leaves that'd be awesome. He's even got some of his guys makin the splash and gettin dogs when they get back, so there should be at least a few more guys running around Campbell in need of a training group.

SSG Schneider will be home with his family TODAY!

They will be picking up their puppy in ONE WEEK, will post or get them to post pictures ASAP.

I'm pretty new on this forum and this is the first I have heard of this. I just wanted to say I think that it's great what everyone here is doing. Also a congrats to SSG Schneider on his safe return home. It's the best feeling in the world seeing your loved ones for the first time after a tour! Just wanted to say thank you to all the members involved in this and a big thank you to SSG Schneider and his family for their service.

almost time!

if there is any question as to WHY SSG Schneider chooses to serve our country or WHY he deserves to come home, that little girl is the answer...

Welcome Home SSG Schneider....job well done by you and all your fellow servicemen/women
