I've been working on finding a training group/mentor as my 6 m.o chessie is the first retriever I'll have ever trained. I've contacted all of the local retriever training groups and a few individuals yet never hear back whatsoever. What's the deal? Does anybody know of someone or a group I could get in touch with?

Have you tried Mike Coutu? He knows Chessies very well.
On EE view Premium for Colonial Club.

Give Wes Reed at Rise and Shine Retrievers a call. Contact information: riseandshineretrievers.com, 603 831-4689 or 603 269-0007. He breeds Chessies and Labs, is current President of the Granite State HRC. Even if NH is too far for you to travel he knows the Chessie community in New England and will be able to steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

Agree with cmccallum - not everyone uses email, give them a call.

A second on Buck. Also, Jim Pickunka (Conneticut) has worked with my guys for several years. You might also check with Yankee Waterfowlers HRC for groups.

Shoreline Retriever has training and sanctioned trials every weekend except this weekend. A members wife passed away. My number is 203-640-9897. Mike is away and won’t be back for awhile. But call him about training if he has room.
