UKC Limited Registration?

Just had my first litter. All pups are being sold with Limited registration. Sire and Dam are AKC and UKC registered. Limiting registration/breeding rights through AKC was easy. Now I have the UKC applications for permanent registration for the puppies; there is no where to indicate limited breeding rights. Does anyone know of a way to limit breeding rights with UKC? I plan to call UKC on Monday to see what options I have, but thought someone here might have some insight to provide before then.

I looked at an UKC application of single registration and found something I didn't really expect. If a dog was registered with an UKC honored registry (like AKC) with a non-breeding contract, you can provide 3 photos of the dog along with your application and be considered for full registration through UKC. I think it is strange that UKC will consider giving full registration to a dog who was sold under a non-breeding contract. All of the people who bought one of my pups have signed a non-breeding contract. Now it seems like they have a possible opportunity to breed UKC registerable puppies, when that was not the intention or agreement.

As far as I know, just about the only thing you can do is to UKC register the puppies yourself in your name, hang on to the papers, and hope that no one is later able to slip a single dog registration application by the UKC for the same dog. Nothing will stop an unscrupulous jerk from breeding limited-reg. dogs and selling puppies without papers or puppy-mill registry papers anyway.

Talked to UKC registration department. Simply put, limited registration of a litter is not an option. However, if they use a single registration application and submit their AKC paperwork that shows limited registration, as they would have to do, the dogs will not be given full UKC registration- from what I understand. However, there is a loophole that can be utilized to get UKC full from AKC limited.

I hope they do not deny my pups' registration applications. That would make for some initially upset puppy owners. They all have the UKC numbers of the sire and dam and were instructed to enter that on the application. Guess I'll find out.

Thing is, you don't have to register your litter with UKC to be affected. It affects almost all breeders. The site and dam do not have to be UKC registered. Any AKC registered dog can be registered with UKC. Just fill out the application, send a copy of the AKC registration certificate and the dog is UKC registered. An additional step gives dogs that have AKC limited registration, full UKC registration. You just have to know what that additional step is. I'm not going to spell it out, as I don't want my pups registered in full.
