Cannot believe I am still clickering, for certain behaviours.

(1) Dog one: Poor water entry on blinds - significant improvement regardless of water distance from send point/angle.

(2) Dog two: Head swinging - significant improvement.

If anyone had told me a clicker would be hanging next to my whistle, I would have said they were crazy.

Talk about simplifying.

Are these the same things that the Dirty Dozen used at night to signal friendlies it was safe to move positions? that was until one was mistaken for a German chambering a round?
Close.

Actually it was the 82nd Airborne who dropped in the swamps behind the Normandy beach head, early D-Day morning. Movie that made it popular knowledge was The Longest Day starring none other than the man himself, John Wayne as Lt. Col. Vandervoort. The only man I know, theatrically speaking, who could ever get something to pay attention to a "click" or any other d@mn thing he wanted.

Duke regards.

Two questions for those who use it. After the click has been associated with the treat/right behavior can't you still use the clicker without the treat, at least sometimes? I am not a big fan of treats. I tried the clicker for like a week then got away from it for one reason or another. My dogs ears really perked up and I can see how it can work well. I might try it again for somethings.
My other question is do you have to use it for everything? There are some things like a heeling stick, pinch collar, and e collar that I want to use for correction and having the clicker with me while useing that stuff might be to much to do at once. Does it still work well if you only use it sometimes, along with these other tools?

Never click with out a reward. Your reward does not have to be food.

Clickers and/or a bridge word are useful for many things. They are wonderful for teaching behaviours and shaping concepts, especially in young puppies. You can't "correct" with a clicker. Your corrections (heeling stick, collar, etc) come after the dog has already been taught the behavior. How you choose to teach that behavior is up to you. A clicker is but one method.
